TCP/IP Flaw Described By Microsoft

The company notes XP Service Pack 2 and Server 2003 Service Pack 1 users are not vulnerable to the flaw.

The problem has been described in a Microsoft advisory, and no reports of attacks or customer impact have been made.

A successful exploit of the vulnerability could reset TCP connections on a machine. Those connections would have to be reestablished by the target machine again. Enough of these resets could create a denial of service condition for the machine.

Users who installed MS05-019 to originally address this vulnerability, but are having network issues as described in the linked article, should implement the workaround instructions listed there.
