VeriSign Opening Center In India

Bangalore's job market continues to enjoy growth as another American technology company expands its presence.

"Go West, young man," was the creed of early settlers looking for new opportunities in America. For engineers graduating in today's economy, that saying might be changed to "Go East" instead.

Infrastructure company VeriSign Inc. opened a technology center in India, and anticipates employing 200 people there by 2007.

"Our goal was not cost cutting or reducing headcount in the U.S. but to manage product development and growth," said Manoj Srivastava, VP of global product engineering.

VeriSign cited the pool of engineering talent as a factor in increasing its existing operations in India. An investment of $6 million USD is expected this year.
