Major League Blogging

Om Malik reports that Six Apart might have snagged a deal with Major League Baseball to launch weblogs.

From what I can tell, Om, a reporter with Business 2.0, is using his blog to "break" stories that he hasn't quite nailed yet.

This might be a new modus operandi for journalists: float an indisputable factoid on a blog (in this case a DNS record) and then follow it up with the real story once the rest of the facts come to light.

Pros like Om may even be trying this to initiate a collaborative investigation with citizen journalists who might have more information.

Now that is brilliant.
