A recent announcement by Yahoo revealed they are in the process of increasing the amount of storage for members of their free email service to 1 gigabyte, which should be available by the end of April. The previous storage capacity allotted was 250 megabytes. The increased storage capacity provides four times the amount than before.
"Beginning next month, people can enjoy 1GB of storage for free and take comfort in the fact that Yahoo! Mail continues to protect the privacy and security of their inboxes," said Andy Spillane, vice president, Yahoo! Mail.
Yahoo Mail also offers integration with several other Yahoo services like, Yahoo Search, the Messenger client, as well as My Yahoo and Yahoo Photos. Yahoo Mail can also be accessed using mobile phones or other devices by visiting Yahoo's mobile site. This feature is available with all major wireless companies in the United States.
Spillane also added, "We know that people are using their Yahoo! Mail accounts to send and store more attachments, photos and important messages than ever before. By providing 1GB of storage for free, we continue with our eight-year tradition of making Yahoo! Mail an even more essential part of people's lives."
