Winn-Dixie Files For Protection
Winn-Dixie filed for bankruptcy protection, but the company doesn't have a whole lot of time to attract more customers.
CEO Peter Lynch said that Winn-Dixie will try to increase sales quickly by stocking improved merchandise and motivating store employees.
According to a Sun-Sentinel article,
"With 122 stores in the South Florida market, it's unclear if any local stores will close. For now, no decisions on further store closings have been made as the company finishes a chain-wide evaluation of store performance that should be concluded within 30-to-45 days, said Caroline Gentile, a company spokeswoman.
Winn-Dixie said in April that it would close 156 stores in the chain that now has 920 stores mostly in the Southeast plus a Bahamas branch that is unaffected by the bankruptcy."
