China to Get 60 Boeing 7E7s

Six Chinese airlines are buying a total of 60 Boeing 7E7 jetliners for approximately $7.3 billion.

The order can do nothing but help Boeing compete with its main rival, Airbus. This is the largest order Boeing has recieved for the 7E7 model so far.

The Chinese airlines included in the order are Xiamen, Air China, China Southern, China Eastern, Shanghai, and Hainan, but the airlines won't recieve the jets until 2008.

According to a Forbes.com article,

"The 7E7 Dreamliner, which is expected to go into service in 2008, competes with the A350 being developed by Europe's Airbus SAS. The Toulouse, France-based company expects to put its plane into service by 2010.

At the end of last year, Boeing had firm orders for 56 of the planes and tentative agreements for an additional 70 planes."

The jets are supposed to cost about $120 million each.
