Microsoft Aiming At Spyware

A beta version of Microsoft's new anti-spyware tool has been released, signaling the company's official attack on the malicious web-based programs.

The anti-spyware program is free and available for downloading at their web site. According to Microsoft's AntiSpyware about page,

"Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) is a security technology that helps protect Windows users from spyware and other potentially unwanted software Continuous protection improves Internet browsing safety by guarding more than 50 ways spyware can enter your PC. The worldwide SpyNet community plays a key role in determining which suspicious programs are classified as spyware."

Microsoft is also preparing an anti-virus tool that should be available next week.
