Apple And Motorola Prepare iTunes Partnership

Apparently, downloadable music for mobile phones is becoming an item of considerable interest. Apple and Motorola have solidified a deal that would allow songs from iTunes to be downloaded and played on compatible phones. Recently, Napster announced they would also be offering downloadable ringtones from their service.

According to MacNews World, Motorola cell phones would have a special format of the iTunes software that would allow users to interface with the Apple music service. Steve Jobs had these comments about the partnership, "The mobile phone market -- with 1.5 billion subscribers expected worldwide as of the end of this year -- is a phenomenal opportunity to get iTunes in the hands of even more music lovers around the world, and we think Motorola is the ideal partner to kick this off."

Motorola phones should be able to store about 12 songs that can be downloaded from an Apple or Windows environment.
