Thanks two a partnership with Dwango Wireless; the new Napster is prepared to enter the mobile technology realm. But this time, it's not for illegal mp3s. Napster and Dwango will be developing Napster Mobile, a service that will offer downloadable ringtones.
According to News.com, Napster Mobile will be available to the United States and Canada in 2005. Napster CEO Chris Gorog offered these thoughts about the upcoming service: "Napster Mobile is a natural extension for the biggest brand in digital music and will enhance our development of wireless delivery."
Users will be able to use their PC to download songs from Napster, which are then presumably emailed to the user's mobile phone (by the user, of course). Ringtone downloads will earn customers credits for the company's PC service.
