Overture Germany Introduces Budget Smoothing

Beginning in October, Overture Germany will begin use of an account control feature called Budget Smoothing. Serving as a spending limit option, Budget Smoothing allows Overture to control the amount of appearances member listings make, depending on their daily budget.

Overture's Budget Smoothing about page explains how the upcoming feature works: "For example, if you have budgeted 100,00 a day, our system will display your listings just enough so that you receive clicks that will total approximately 100,00 for the day. The smoothing feature also regulates the display of your listings so that you receive clicks throughout the day, rather than burning through your budgeted amount in just a few hours."

Listings will be disabled if members go over their daily budget amount. They will appear again once the user's budget allows for more clicks.

Overture's upcoming feature has been available at Google's AdSense for an extended period of time. But, to quote Andy Beal of SearchEngineLowdown, Budget Smoothing "would be a welcomed feature, should Overture roll it out globally."
