One of the most popular portals on the Internet, Yahoo, announced a partnership with Rogers Cable and subsequent launch of Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Internet service. The companies offer a combination of Yahoo's portal services with Rogers Cable's broadband Internet service.

Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Internet is currently available to new and current customers in Ontario and New Brunswick. The service will be offered in Newfoundland later this year. The partnership will offer all of Yahoo's portal service, branded for the Rogers Yahoo venture.

These services include a suite of safety and security features with parental controls, a powerful email system with stout anti-virus protection, SpamGuard Plus and an email storage capacity of 2 gigabytes. Other features include Rogers Yahoo Photos with unlimited storage, Rogers Yahoo Messenger, music from LAUNCHcast Plus and access to Rogers Yahoo Games.

Michael Lee, Vice-President, Strategy and Development, Rogers Cable, said, "We developed Rogers Yahoo Hi-Speed Internet to bring together the services our customers say matter most to them allowing them to take advantage of high-speed Internet access in a way that is relevant to their lives today."

Doug Garland, Senior Vice-President, Broadband and Mobile Services, Yahoo! Inc., stated:

"We are excited to give consumers a powerful new broadband experience, created through our deep alliance, that unites the speed, services and features they are looking for online. Yahoo has a proven record of success in partnering to deliver the industry-leading products and services consumers want. Rogers Yahoo Hi-Speed Internet brings together the best of both companies to give our customers a truly customized broadband experience."
