Google Inc. acquired Picasa Inc. today. Picasa is a California based company founded in 2001 specializing in digital photography.
Earlier this year Picasa had inked a technology partnership with Google's Blogger.com in an effort to allow Blogger users to easily add photos to their blogs.
Google's vice president of Product Management stated that Picasa's "technologies complement Google's ongoing mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Picasa is an innovator in the field of digital photography, and we're excited that the Picasa team is joining Google."
