Lycos Changes To Inktomi Database
By WebProNews - Thu, 04/08/2004 - 17:12
Lycos has altered the content of its search results. Instead of continuing to use AlltheWeb's (or FAST's Web Search) database, Lycos' searches are now powered by Inktomi and LookSmart.
LookSmart's directory will continue to power "certain popular queries" through Lycos. Other queries will have "portions powered by Inktomi" disclaimers at the bottom of the search results page.
This change signifies the end of AlltheWeb's database access.
Thanks to SearchEngineShowdown for the heads up.
