There are all kinds of tips and tricks out there for getting into Yahoo! A couple are useful, but most of them will either end up getting you banned from the Yahoo! directory or having your entry skipped over by the Yahoo! editors entirely.
There are local Yahoo!s for all the major countries out there. Have you ever visited the Yahoo! Canada site? If not, you definitely should. Read through their submission guidelines and you'll find something pretty interesting:
> Important notes: Yahoo! Canada gives priority to sites with
> content specific to Canada. If your site does not contain
> related content, please submit directly to main Yahoo!.
> Furthermore, sites added to Yahoo! Canada are placed
> automatically in the main Yahoo! directory. There is no need to
> submit to both directories.
Yahoo! Canada recieves a far less number of submissions each day compared to the main Yahoo! directory. Many more of the submissions actually end up in the directory. Though it says they give priority to content specific to Canada, they'll add just about any high-quality website. You'll still need to be careful when choosing a category, writing your title and description, and submitting your site. If you're listed you'll get an email that looks something like this:
The URL you submitted has been added to both Yahoo! and Yahoo! Canada. It will appear after our next update, which will probably occur in the next several days. You can find your entry at that time by looking through the "What's New" listings (located at http://ca.yahoo.com/new/) or by searching for the name of the site. In order to keep both Web directories accurate, please let us know of > changes to your listing in the future.
If you're as frustrated about getting a Yahoo! listing as most website owners are, try this method.
