Toni Braxton says she doesn’t feel that old spark anymore when it comes to music, and she wants to retire from the biz to focus on her acting career. After a career spanning over twenty years, the songstress says she’s ready for something new.

“For what I do I have to love it. I have to feel that excitement and it’s gone,” she said. “I’m just not going to do any albums anymore; maybe touring occasionally here and there because I love performing, but not as much as I did in the past. But no new projects.”

The mother of two has found some success on stage–she starred in Beauty And The Beast and Aida on Broadway–and has a popular reality show, “Braxton Family Values”, which focuses on the singer and her sisters. But she wants more, and says she knows she’s capable of doing something deeper.

“I hate to have reality star behind my name. That’s just not what I wanted to be when I grew up. I would like to play a lesbian,” she said. “I don’t know why. And do a whole make-out scene and the whole thing; just something completely different than people would expect from me. Not a lipstick lesbian, either.”

Braxton has long been an advocate for gay rights and has said she is very close with her LGBT fanbase.

“I love my boys because my boys help me be a better girl,” she said. “My choreographer and my video director are gay, and they’ve been my best friends since I started in the industry.”

I think its great that Toni Braxton is pursuing acting. When you get tired of one thing and you find something that you want to do, follow your heart. “Good luck Toni”.

      :) Great comment!

Here’s what is really funny. Everyone knows that Toni Braxton IS A REAL LESBIAN hence the reason she just came out in this article!!!

Too funny. She wants to perform in something deeper than reality TV – she should become a comic.

in my younger years i liked listening to her music. i am against gays and lesibans this is not what God intended of his people. Like Sodom and Gamora she should be destroyed. Why is it that actors and people in the public eye think that because they have a lil money and a camera to voice their opinion think that what ever they say should be supported. They are an abomination and a discrace to humans what they say now and get away with on this earth may seem like they are right but when they stand before the great and almighty God for judgement they will see as they are cast into HELL with the rest of their weak minded sinning followers. God have mercy on their souls.

      • Rex

All I can do is say AMEN Tabithia.
The Bible says that they will call good evil and evil good.
Its coming to an end. In my lifetime I never seen so much
        evil and just foolishness.

Perhaps the issue lies with the Churches that branched off from the Tree of Jesus and His teachings? Teaching their own particular brands of inaccuracies RATHER than those of love, caring, compassion and acceptance that Jesus stood for throughout His Life and unto His death?

We are told in the Revelations that the ANTI-Christ will be very pleasing to us, in looks and language. That person will be someone who is ACCEPTED by the Church body and will attempt to fool everyone. Do you really think that can happen, Rex, by someone who is NOT a person YOU would find a “true believer?” Of course it will not.

What has happened to Christianity, to the Body of Christ, to the Church, has been much more fearsome and appalling among those who call themselves believers, IMO, then it has ever been amongst them who do not. Thank goodness, in my life, that I look at the reality of Jesus’ acceptance and love for us all, rather than putting myself into a group that doesn’t allow anyone to be “different.”

I will pray for you, too, Rex. And ask God to bless you with the wisdom He has blessed so many others with who sought to separate from, rather than join with, the brothers and sisters He commanded us to love as He loves us.

      • Cathy Hannah

May God have mercy upon YOUR soul, Ms. Williams. I would remind you ALSO to check the Bible for information on judging others. That WOULD have been included in the Old AND New Testaments in earlier writings :)

Can’t have it both ways: EITHER God made us ALL, or God did not. Either we are as GOD made us, or the Bible is wrong. And perhaps since the King James Version was polluted and made apocrypha by a misogynist, matricidal maniac who believed himself superior simply because he was born a King, and had the Bible (mis)interpreted accordingly, what you have learned from that Bible’s recording have little to do with 4th Century writings?

I pray that you find wisdom, and that you find compassion in your life. That you learn to love ALL of the brothers and sisters that God made and that we ARE commanded to love as God loves us.

Good for Toni, BTW. She’s growing and learning. Proud of you, Ms. Braxton!

        • tabithia williams

          C. hannah Christ says you will know a tree by the fruit it bears if it be through evil it bears a bitter fruit. God gives up free will to do evil until damn nation or to do rightous unto ever lasting life. I believe in every word that the bible has in it doesn’t matter who had it interpeted. My question to you is are you a scholar may in hebrew or latin? I will pray for you. and one day when you stand before the almighty God run what you believe by Him see how far you get. Have a very very blessed i will besure to pray for you.

Its better to change to something of ur best choice, if thats how she feels then, let us wish her all the best on her new career. But I am one of those who loved her music very much, we will miss her on the music industry.

  • Mpls Sound

Always enjoyed Toni songs. I have seen some of her acting and while not bad, she needs a lot of work yet. I wish her the best of luck.
How unfortunate that some people feel so bad about themselves that they attack a wonderful woman like this.

  • James Greene

I think she can do any thing she like and be good at it

  • Johnny

Tabithia, you sound like the good books is flowing through your soul and I’m happy that you have found GOD. But let him do the judging and you just do the living. Condemning another soul to HELL should only be left to the man, woman or being upstairs. Tony what ever direction you take in your life regardless of what you promote, do it well and take GOD with you.. GOD BLESS..

  • Shaneika

Do what your heart wants, anything that makes u happy go ahead and do it.

  • Lyle

Her Life, her choice, dose not matter what I think or any one else.

  • T

I am a guy, but I would be willing to dress up like a woman to participate in the “make-out” scene with TB.

  • Lyle

I see every referring to the Bible God said this,God said that? I have a question if being Gay is such a sin,why do god put those type of feeling into human.s. Oh by the way I am straight.

    • Sweetness

God doesn’t put those feelings in people. BUT, the devil does tempt people with sin, no matter what that sin is.

      We all have choices.

I once read there are no atheists in hell. I thought the statement strange until it said they weren’t atheists once they died…they are all believers begging for mercy in hell now…but it’s too late.

    • http://Yahoo! Jenn

Hi Lyle! You pose a very old, difficult question, it may seem…the Bible is a way to live a holy life. God allowed the people of the Old Testament to find their way to Him because of original sin; freewill & intellect- as humans help us to make the right or wrong decision, based on God’s original plan before sin (disobedience to God’s Will for a peaceful, loving life) entered the world. Jesus came to us in the New (Covenant)Testament to fulfill what the prophets told in the OT; to actually show & teach us about what IS important & how to follow God–by putting Him first above others, money, power, jealously, status, etc. Find happiness in what you have & spread that happiness with others.
In answer to your question, God doesn’t put those “feelings” in people; that is through sin in this world. We are all called to a certain state in life. But, do we listen & try to be obedient to what God wants for us (not turmoil)? In cases of abusers; gays; murderers; liars; lovers of money & power; even those who are “straight”, but are promiscuous; or marry someone bc they “think” they want to/this “is the one”, but didn’t listen to God, to wait patiently to meet the right person- then ends up in abuse, divorce, neglect of children & possible other issues, such as death, which seems on the rise. People become more selfish in various ways (either little bits or much greater); more disheartened; lost- what am I doing here?/what is my purpose in life, or, life at all; angry, sad, inbittered/unforgiving; the “whatever” attitude, etc.
I think if anyone that believes in faith- in God/Jesus, or doesn’t- just taking a few moments to ponder this, can see the falseness of this superficial, materialistic life. Happiness is in goodness- feeling it, showing it, receiving it, and believing in it. Thank you for your time & possibly your consideration. Peace Be with You…

      • http://Yahoo! Jenn

Forgot…also, regarding those who are opposite of heterosexuality between a man and woman as we were made, and the like-pedophilia (all against the commandments of God)- maybe have this “tendency” to do so, & because of sin, is in their state of life, are called to reject it if they can & live celibate lives. If it’s a more destructive tendency, then more, aggressive intervention should be sought. Just like those who have cancer & don’t give up!
I’m not saying it can’t be extremely difficult, and require immense strength to persevere. God does let us know those who suffer with Him in this life will be rewarded. I would guess, that keeping your eyes on Him & devoting yourself in such a way to avoid the near occasion of sin, surrending all to Him, would be efficacious.
Personally, having still and had a difficult life where I’ve experienced alot of hurt, confusion, etc through my own life- seems like almost everything/kind in a very short time; I am determined to persevere. I am not focused on others, what they think or believe. This is between me and God- to work together to get through it all.
As far as the homosexuality part, I can say, a relative of mine was in his young adult yrs. He now, several yrs after the fact, & I, believe he had emotional issues that were never addressed and needed healing, but he sought the comfort of a roommate- not intentionally aware of those hurts/confusion. He lived a very gay lifestyle in San Fran. He moved away fro there & started over, focusing on himself &his relationship to God, etc, etc. After about 3-4 yrs, he met a woman & they married (an old friend). They now have a family. They also have one of the best marriages I’ve seen in awhile, besides my parents. They are best friends; they do everything together & he is very thankful for her understanding & love. ??? In short, everyone needs to look at their life, discren it for the best, & do your best according to God. I know this is harder in situations of grave sin such as murederers, & other mental diseases & issues. Our best weapon is our kindness & prayers. That’s all God asks of us. Those are His commands, summed up.

      • Triflin

        Yes Lyle…

Didn’t you know that gays have “special, magical powers” that allow them to choose their sexuality, versus straight people who just “are.” I always think it funny when religious people couple gays into a category with murderers and pedophiles. As if it is a conscious choice to be gay – of course, that is the only validation a religious person can believe, because to believe that gay people were created in God’s image and were meant to be gay is intolerable to them. It also gives religious folks free license to discriminate and hate people who are gay. They colorize it with “we don’t hate the person, we hate the sin” as if they are on par with God to make the judgments against gay people. Religious folks have a lot to learn about sexuality – unfortunately, as long as they remain ignorant, they will lack compassion and understanding of those who are different, not by choice, but by birth. It’s easy to say it is a choice when the “choice” isn’t yours.

      Its all a test Lyle

    • Triflin

      You stupid.

    • Craig

Looks like you’d chose not to learn English, too..

  • Lyle

Typo why did GOD not DO Sorry

  • bob simpson

Is it just a coincidence that the Pope and Toni Braxton are retirng at the same time? They have been seen together at the Coliseum.

  • http://webpronews Steven Foust

There are a lot of gays out there playing straight roles. And there would nothing wrong with a straight person like Toni Braxton to play gay character. It does not mean it is going to make her become gay anymore than Ricki Martin becoming straight playing nongay roles. And there is nothing gay about Charlize Theron after winning her Oscar for playing a lesbian. Geez people, being gay is not contagious. Get over it!

  • To God Be The Glory

The reason people get offended by the truth is because it cuts to the very marrow of the bone. For me and all who are human. The light finds darkness and sometimes that darkness is great. We are always to love one another but never accept sin without witnessing to the truths of the Bible. If a person wants to contradict that their conscious will be their guide. I have repeatedly fallen short of the Glory of God. I do not expect God, His Son Jesus or his people to come to accept my sin as okay. Sin’s wages are death–I would rather stay unemployed if that is my career. Unbelievers cannot see the truth or the light until they accept Jesus so do not argue with them. It makes you look unintelligent. Being Gay will never be right just as sex outside of marriage will never be right, stealing, killing, etc. We must love the sinner though and hate the sin. Never ever my brother and sisters say it is okay. Receive Jesus as you Lord and Savior today! I love you all and we will meet again some day!

What I find interesting is that God’s talk about his people. (male and female. Not if you are straight or gay. However He does make it clear in the sins we live in. Being gay is a sin however the sin itself is what being reveal, not the person. All of us live with free will choices daily. We choose what we feed ourselves in our daily decisions. Every decision does matter no matter how big or small. We are not to judge others however we are not to honor what is not good or wrong. I see talk about excepting, judging, respecting and loving.
We has people have definitions what those words means and apply to our lives. We all sin and if you think you don’t than you live for self. God’s made it clear we are to have kindness, compassion, understanding, forgiveness and love for our brothers ad sisters. The problem with our world is that we do not die to our selfish desires…
Reading the bible and praying daily is a task that most people choose not to do for whatever selfish reason. Just as food and water is important to us for our living lifestyle, God word and action of living a life for him (not me) is my spiritual life.

I have grandchildrens, we went camping one night, we heard these wolves howling. I said to them that everyone has a wolf in them.
Good wolf and a bad wolf. They asked me what ones are they?
I said, “it the one you feed”.

  • Lillian

I see nothing wrong with her choice. in reality a being gay is normal like brushing your teeth in the morning. If GOD is love… He will understand its only acting.

    • yusuf

Stop the homo shit. Its a no win situation. She did not just start this shit she been down with tthe lickey lickey plan fpr a long time.

  • Just Saying

God said, God said, I’m so tired of hearing people saying what “God said” in the Bible. God did not write the Bible, “Men” did. How do we “really” know how God feels about gays. If you read the Bible you will find there are “So Many” things in the Bible that are considered sins, that a great many people do everyday. Most people don’t even know they are sins. The Bible states that one sin is no greater than another. Lets say we all stop throwing stones at gay people, and take a good look in the mirror. I’m straight, and I know eating shrimp is a sin (check your Bible), and I do it all the time. By the way God was telling me just the other day, he wants us to stop all the fighting and “JUST LOVE ONE ANOTHER”!!!!!

    • Frank

Just Saying… Do you read the bible? I know you are tired of people saying “God said”. God is the author of the bible and man just translated the meaning into our language. The bible is for his people, not for Him.

      • Tamara

We not suppose to eat anything with a shell. We not suppose to eat pork, like you said some people would eat pork

      • Just saying

Frank, I have read the Bible, thank you very much. Once again God did not “write” the Bible, it was created by “many” men. Have you ever heard of some folks by the names of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and so on. Did you know there were also books left out of the Bible? Ever hear about them? The Bible was “written” and “edited” by Men, not by God! The Bible is also not a translation. It is a “interpatation”. The interpatations of Men!

  • john

she need to reconsider adout that one.

  • john

She need to reconsider about that one.

Homosexuality is an illicit lust forbidden by God. He said to His people Israel, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination” (Leviticus 18:22). “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them” (Leviticus 20:13). In these passages homosexuality is condemned as a prime example of sin, a sexual perversion. The Christian can neither alter God’s viewpoint nor depart from it.

Homosexuality must be accepted for what God says it is– sin. Some homosexuals will attempt to circumvent the plain teaching of the Bible with the reply that they are the way God made them.1 There is not the slightest bit of evidence in Scripture to support this false concept. God never created man with a so-called “homosexual need.” No baby is born a homosexual. Every baby is born male or female.

Its a part . How did we get from a movie part to the debate of homosexuality. Wow Toni if we all had that focus….. Maybe we can stay on the subject.

  • Lorial

  • Lisa

It’s about time…she needs to focus on her health. If she chooses to act she can pick the jobs she wants (or the job that is available for a black woman). It will be less demanding on her body.

  • Marilynn Petty

Finding another trade skill other than singing is good. However she has children and if she plays that roll then what kind of example would she be setting for her sons? The thing about is that everyone is trying to jump on the homosexual band wagon if u choose to live your life that way then that’s your choice but don’t push others into agreeing with your choice of a lifestyle.

    • Randy

If everyone in the world started to practice the gay lifestyle, then there would be no one left 100+ years from now!God made Adam and Eve at the beginning for them to multiply!

  • Leah

Toni, you just lost me. Sorry.

  • GOD

I am GOD and I am gay.
