TiVo said today that its subscribers will soon be able to download Disney movies through their DVRs directly from their TVs.

Titles will be available to rent through an agreement with Disney and CinemaNow. The movies will be available for a 24-hour rental period in standard definition, some titles will also be available in high definition.

This latest deal will increase Tivo’s content offerings, which includes 30,000 titles through Amazon Unbox, although it does not offer Disney films. The company recently announced that TiVo subscribers will be able to watch YouTube videos directly on TV through its DVR this summer.

"Adding Disney movies really delivers on TiVo’s promise to offer the best television entertainment experience with unlimited content choices that are easy to navigate across broadcast, cable, and broadband using one device, one remote, and one user interface," said Tara Maitra, Vice President and GM of Content Services at TiVo Inc.

The company also announced today a content deal with Tribune Co. to put TV and film reviews from the Chicago Tribune on TiVo boxes for those who sign up for the service. The service will only be available to subscribers in the Chicago area. TiVo said it is considering similar deals with other newspapers throughout the U.S.
