There are a lot of big name movies coming out next summer. The Dark Knight Rises and the Spider-Man reboot are just two of the bigger ones, although, I'm not sure there's a movie with as much anticipation as The Avengers. Marvel has been building towards this film ever since the first Iron Man movie came out, and with the releases of Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, and Captain America, the buzz has been exponentially building.
It only helps the anticipation when the aforementioned movies, especially Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America, are essentially extended trailers The Avengers movie, which is scheduled for release in May of 2012. Speaking of previews, since I'm sure many of you have already seen the "extended trailers" masquerading as movies, how about a look at the actual official teaser trailer for The Avengers? Does that ramp up your curiosity meter? Are you still uncertain about whether to embrace The Avengers or not?
Take a look at the trailer and see how you feel:
I can't help but feel a little skeptical because of the failure previous comic movies have had when the cram the screen with too many characters. I'm looking directly at you, Batman and Robin. That being said, it appears as if director Joss Whedon is taking the source material seriously and is working to deliver a movie that will appeal to both comic book fans and the general movie-going public alike.
Needless to say, Twitter has chimed in and shared its collective thoughts on The Avengers trailer, and judging by that, the buzz is pretty high:
As The Avengers trailer reminds us, the first thing anyone does when they want to conquer the Earth is blow up all the parked cars.
I just watched The Avengers trailer and got a bit choked up. What's wrong with me?!
I enjoyed that line as well.
Thoughts on the new trailer? Does it look like The Avengers will justify making at least previous three movies into extended trailers for next summer's soon-to-be box office smash? Let us know what you think.
