For most publishers, HD remasters are a quick and dirty way to squeeze a bit of extra cash out of gamers' nostalgia. Square Enix is unlike most publishers in this regard as its HD remasters are getting the love and attention that a brand new retail release would. That's why it's been working on Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD for almost two years now, but it's release is nearly upon us.
At Tokyo Game Show 2013, Square Enix reminded us that its HD remaster of both Final Fantasy X and its sequel - Final Fantasy X-2 - were still on track for a 2013 release. The publisher also shared a new trailer that shows off more of the in-game events and the newly remastered FMVs. It should be noted that Square Enix didn't bother to rerecord any lines for these games so you're still stuck with the original performances that barely passed muster in 2001.
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD will be released this winter on the PS3. The games will also be released separately on the PS Vita for those that want to take the games on the go. Unfortunately, cross buy is not an option so bust out those wallets if you intend to buy the games on both platforms.[Image: PlayStation/YouTube]
