The celebrity story of the day is ripped from both the gossip pages and tech pages – ok, mostly the gossip pages. It appears that there are rumors that singer, songwriter, and American sweetheart Taylor Swift is currently dating, checking out, or at least seeing Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel.

Or they just went to the same party – or something like that.

The story first appeared on the Lainey Gossip blog, which quotes multiple sources who all confirm that Taylor Swift has indeed been spending time with Spiegel. From Lainey Gossip:

Anyway, I’m told that Taylor was at a party with Spiegel over the holidays and it was understood that they were checking each other. Nothing overt but my sources say there’s no doubt she was there with him and for him and that they’re seeing each other casually…so far. She knows how to pick them at exactly the right time, non? I like this about her. This is definitely not a backup dancer situation.

Oh, snap…chat.

But hold on a minute. Gossip Cop is calling bullshit on the story, quoting their own sources in saying that Swift and Spiegel are totally not dating.

[T]he story is completely false…A source close to Swift calls the report “totally fabricated,” telling Gossip Cop exclusively that the singer did go to the same party as Spiegel, but she went to the bash ”with group of friends, and left with a group of friends.”

There’s no chatter from the two parties’ Twitter accounts and no couple selfies on Instagram. Although Swift did just receive a Moon Man, so that’s nice.

In other Snapchat news, the company has recently been forced to apologize after a massive security breach which saw 4.6 million usernames and phone numbers compromised.

As many on Twitter are pointing out, the Taylor Swift breakup song jokes pretty much write themselves. “Our love, as ephemeral as…”
