Amazon's Kindle Breaks Sales Record in November

Amazon announced that its Kindle device, an electronic reader, has broken its record for sales in a single month, during November. This information does not even take into account Cyber Monday, which is today.
The company says that the Kindle is the most "wished" for, the most "gifted," and the number one best-selling product across all product categories on Amazon.com.
Susan Boyle Breaks Amazon Pre-Order Record
Amazon.com has announced that Susan Boyle's upcoming album, "I Dreamed a Dream," has become its largest global pre-order in the history of the online retail giant.
The album will be released by Sony Music Entertainment on November 23. Boyle became a reality show and Internet sensation after her April 11, 2009 appearance on the TV show "Britain's Got Talent," where she sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Miserables."
Amazon Launches Packaging Certification Program
Amazon.com is launching a Frustration-Free Packaging certification program aimed at convincing manufacturers to provide more user-friendly packaging.
"Wrap rage is real," said Dr. Nadia Shouraboura, vice president of Global Fulfillment for Amazon. "We launched packaging feedback and we were surprised by the customer participation and response world-wide. Our customers told us they want packaging that is easier to open, and is free of wire ties and impenetrable plastic clamshells."
Amazon Kindle For PC Now Available

Amazon.com has released its free Kindle for PC application that allows users to read books on their personal computer without having to own the e-reader device.
The move comes as Amazon aims to make it s Kindle content available on a broader range of devices. Kindle books can now be read on the iPhone, iPod touch, Kindle DX and now a PC.
Amazon.com Launches Denim Shop

Amazon.com has just launched an online store for jeans it calls the Denim Shop.
To attract shoppers to its Denim Shop, Amazon is offering free shipping on some men and women's jeans. It is also offering shoppers free returns for purchases that for whatever reason don't work out. Customers will have up to 30 days to return their jeans for a full refund.
Walmart.com Offering Top 10 Pre-Order DVDs For $10

Walmart.com said Thursday it will start offering its Top 10 pre-order DVD movie titles at just $10 each as well as "free home delivery" on its entire catalog of DVD and Blu-ray titles (excluding box sets).
Amazon Shows Interest In Twitter Referrals

A company with a market cap of $51 billion has lent some weight to the idea that it's possible to make money off Twitter. Early this morning, Amazon launched a "Share on Twitter" feature designed to bring in buyers and reward the specific people responsible for doing so.
Amazon Introduces PayPhrase
Amazon.com has introduced "PayPhrase," a new shortcut for making purchases at the online retailer and other websites.
PayPhrase works by allowing users to choose their own phrase along with a PIN and then set up their shipping information, which is stored at Amazon.
Amazon customers can use PayPhrase to make purchases at any websites that offers Checkout by Amazon, such as DNKY, Patagonia, Buy.com and J&R Electronics.
Amazon Completes Acquisition of Zappos
Update: Amazon announced the completion of its acquisition of Zappos.com today. The Zappos management team will remain intact, and Zappos will operate independently with its headquarters in Las Vegas.

Amazon and Walmart Engage in Price War Over Holiday Book Shoppers

Amazon and Walmart have been engaged in an online price war over holiday sales of bargain books. The whole thing began when Walmart announced that it would let customers preorder 10 of the most highly anticipated upcoming books for as little as $10 each. In a matter of hours, Amazon matched the price for all of the same books. Walmart then dropped the price to $9. Then Amazon did the same.
