Some relatively minor tweaks have had a major impact on clickthrough rates at Yahoo, and more are on the way.  Yahoo announced this afternoon that its "Trending Now" lists have been a major success, and adjustments to both them and Yahoo News are in the works.

Yahoo is rolling out some new search enhancements for Yahoo Sports and Yahoo News on this April Fools Day, and Yahoo’s Tricia Stream tells WebProNews it’s "no joke." She says it’s evidence of the company’s "continued innovation in search and the benefits of weaving compelling search experiences throughout the Yahoo! network."

You may have heard that Yahoo News was the most popular site on the night of the United States Presidntial Election ten days ago. Now comScore has confirmed this along with some numbers for other sources making up the top five:

Yahoo! News has a new redesign in the works, and in a move that will make many bloggers and "citizen journalists" happy, they are giving some love to blog posts that are covering popular news stories. On what appears to be each article page, there is a section for "most blogged" within the particular category you happen to be in.

Words have power, as a number of people have realized over the years of the printed page. A small example of that appeared as an odd edit on an AP article appearing on Yahoo News.

International news items created by McClatchy foreign correspondents will be added as ‘Trusted Voices’ to Yahoo News.

Although the blog results component for Yahoo News searches has vanished from the site, it should return after some tweaking to it has been completed.

The newest beta from Yahoo News allows its multitude of users to select their cities and see a module of local headlines appear on the main Yahoo News page.
