			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Yahoo Go, a mobile application that links users to a number of different services (including mail, news, and weather), is going to cease doing much of anything in the near future.&nbsp; Yahoo has decided to concentrate its mobile efforts elsewhere.</p>
<p>In an email sent to Yahoo Go users, the company announced, &quot;Yahoo! Go will be discontinued on January 12, 2010, at 12:00 a.m. PST, so that we may focus on simplifying and enhancing your future mobile Web experiences.&nbsp; After this date, you will no longer be able to use Yahoo! Go 2.0 or 3.0 from your mobile phone.&quot;</p>
<div style="margin: 0px; padding: 10px; font-size: 10px; float: right;"><img border="0" src="http://images.ientrymail.com/webpronews/article_pics/YahooGo.jpg" alt="Yahoo Go" title="Yahoo Go" /><br />
Photo Credit: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yahoo_presse/995475560/in/set-72157601187310320/">Yahoo! &#8211; service de presse</a></div>
<p>The email then plugged Yahoo Go&#8217;s effective replacement, m.yahoo.com, continuing, &quot;We encourage you to visit the new mobile homepage from your mobile browser to access an even richer, more personalized Yahoo! experience.&quot;</p>
<p>This move makes a great deal of sense for Yahoo.&nbsp; Yahoo Go&#8217;s more than a little basic compared to all of the smartphone-optimized stuff that&#8217;s now available, meaning most phone owners have almost surely given up on it already.&nbsp; And those that haven&#8217;t will be forced to by dying hardware sooner or later, anyway.</p>
<p>Yahoo Go joins a long list of Yahoo products and services that have recently been closed for the sake of conserving resources, including Briefcase, FareChase, and GeoCities.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="text">Yahoo! Made news when it launched the Go 3.0 Beta a couple of days back, see: <a href="http://www.webpronews.com/blogtalk/2008/01/08/yahoo-releases-go-30-beta"><u>Yahoo! Launches Go 3.0 Beta Featuring Open Mobile Widget Platform And A Redesigned Mobile Homepage</u></a>. </p>
<p>The latest from Yahoo! is the beta release of its personalized <a onclick="javascript:urchinTracker('/outbound/www.beta.m.yahoo.com/');" href="http://www.beta.m.yahoo.com/"><u>mobile portal</u></a>.</p>
<p> <center><a onclick="javascript:urchinTracker('/outbound/www.beta.m.yahoo.com/');" title="yahoomobiileportal.JPG" href="http://www.beta.m.yahoo.com/"><img alt="yahoomobiileportal.JPG" src="http://www.pagetrafficblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/yahoomobiileportal.JPG" /></a></center>
<p>In the US the new mobile interface is available on most mobile phones which include Apple&#8217;s iPhone, a couple of Nokia Series 60 handsets and Windows Mobile devices. The international rendering of services is to be rolled out in the next couple of months.</p>
<p>While there&#8217;s nothing new about mobile portals as MSN, Google and Ask.com already have them for mobile users, Yahoo&rsquo;s portal offers a more customizable home page. The users can make use of Yahoo! Snippets and add them for weather, news, finance, sports scores and quick links on the page.</p>
<p>You can find a oneSearch bar at the top and below it Yahoo! Mail and Snippets. Additionally, the Quick Links lets you access your favorite sites in a jiffy. The Personalized Vitality and Status Updates let you add mobile widgets and othe applications, e-mail updates, updates on Flickr images and even allow you to access Yahoo! Messenger.</p>

Inc. has finally announced the release</u></a>. </p>
<p>The launch is slated to further consolidate Yahoo!&#8217;s already existing leadership position in providing cutting-edge mobile services to consumers the world over.
<p>Yahoo! Had been working hard on enhancing their mobile services and customer feedback has been the bedrock for most of the new features and improvements. &ldquo;Thanks to the feedback from many of our Yahoo! Go 2.0 users, this new product is designed to deliver more of what consumers want, wherever however and whenever they want it. Yahoo! Go 3.0 takes mobile services to the next level with an upgraded and feature-rich user interface, a truly personalized start page and customizable access to consumers&#8217; favorite Internet brands and services through easy-to-use third-party widgets.&rdquo;</p>
<p>For the consumers in the US, Yahoo! Go 3.0 beta can be <a href="http://mobile.yahoo.com/go" onclick="javascript:urchinTracker('/outbound/mobile.yahoo.com/go?ref=/yahoo-personalized-mobile-portal-launched/3940/');"><u>downloaded here</u></a>. User in other parts of the world would have to wait for a couple of months before they can use the service.</p>
<p> <center><a href="http://mobile.yahoo.com/go" title="yahoogo3a.jpg" onclick="javascript:urchinTracker('/outbound/mobile.yahoo.com/go?ref=/yahoo-personalized-mobile-portal-launched/3940/');"><img border="0" title="Yahoo Mobile" src="http://images.ientrymail.com/webpronews/articlepictures/yahoogo3a.jpg" alt="Yahoo Mobile" /></a></center>
<p><strong>The Key features are:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>UPGRADED DESIGN</strong>
<p>Yahoo! Go 3.0 offers an intuitive and rich design that makes efficient use of the phone&#8217;s small screen and speeds consumers&#8217; ability to find the information they need on the mobile Internet. This enhanced experience is both visually stunning and highly functional, enabling consumers to easily navigate Yahoo! Go 3.0 through a choice of two views &#8211; either the traditional carousel or the new icon layout.</p>
</li>
<li><strong>THE IDEAL STARTING POINT</strong>
<p>The new Home widget for Yahoo! Go 3.0 is an innovative gateway for consumers to get where they&#8217;re going on the mobile Internet. It offers an at-a-glance update of what&#8217;s new since the last visit; such as how many new e-mails have arrived, upcoming calendar appointments, and new photos posted to Flickr by friends. The Home widget also includes a customizable collection of mobile snippets &#8211; previews of the user&#8217;s favorite Web content &#8211; news headlines, weather conditions and more &#8211; to keep users updated while on the go. Also, it allows the user to get quickly where they want to go on the mobile Internet via Yahoo! oneSearch.</p>
</li>
<li><strong>GET EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT</strong>
<p>For the first time ever, consumers can enjoy their favorite Internet content and services from leading mobile publishers within a single client on their phone. Later this week, consumers will be able to access widgets from eBay, MySpace and MTV by selecting them from the Widget Gallery in Yahoo! Go 3.0. The Widget Gallery will showcase both Yahoo! Mobile Widgets as well as a growing selection of widgets from third-party developers.</p>
<p>With the introduction of third-party mobile widgets, Yahoo! enables developers and publishers to bring their content and creativity to millions of mobile users with ease &#8211; thus enhancing users&#8217; choice and control over their mobile Internet experience. By satisfying consumer demand for relevant and personalized mobile experiences, Yahoo! Go 3.0 is expected to usher in a dramatic acceleration in the adoption of the mobile Internet.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>It appears that Yahoo! Has been trying hard to maintain its leadership position in mobile services. Last month the company had struck a deal with Am&eacute;rica M&oacute;vil. See: <a href="http://www.pagetrafficblog.com/yahoo-announces-partnership-with-america-movil/3786/"><u>Yahoo! announces partnership with Am&eacute;rica M&oacute;vil</u></a>. This time around its the release of an upgraded Yahoo! Go. What&#8217;s next on Yahoo! List of breaking news?</p>

<p>Hot on the heels of Google&rsquo;s Android initiative, Yahoo is announcing its own developer platform. The Yahoo! Mobile Developer Platform will provide tools for developers to code and launch mobile widgets for a wide range of cell phones. Here are the details from Yahoo:</p>
<ul>
<li><span>The platform is an open environment for developers to create mobile Widgets for instant access by millions of consumers.</span></li>
<p>
<li><span>Widgets created on the Mobile Widget Platform will be available to consumers from various starting points, including Yahoo! Go 3.0 and Yahoo!&rsquo;s new mobile homepage.</span></li>
<p>
<li><span>The platform will enable developers to write code once and publish their content across Yahoo!&rsquo;s mobile network, allowing accelerated delivery of a feature-rich mobile experience.</span></li>
<p>
<li><span>The platform will enable consumers more control over their experience, as well, by providing the functionality to add and delete Widgets at any time.</span></li>
<p>
<li><span>Full-featured SDK for developers to be introduced over the coming weeks.</span></li>
<p>
<li><span>Third-party Widget launch partners include, <strong>eBay, MySpace, </strong>and <strong>MTV.</strong></span></li>
</ul>
<p>In addition to the new mobile widget platform, Yahoo is today launching <a href="http://mobile.yahoo.com/">Yahoo Go 3.0 beta</a>. Along with some interface upgrades, Yahoo Go 3.0 provides an &ldquo;open&rdquo; environment offering Yahoo!&rsquo;s full selection of Mobile Widgets developed by third parties.</p>

]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Digital video recording comes to the PC via Yahoo&#8217;s Go service, only a week after Yahoo publicly announced they had acquired Meedio.</p>
<p>It was one thing for Truveo to go from startup to acquisition by AOL in three months last year. <a href=http://www.meedio.com class=bluelink>Meedio</a> proceeded from purchase to implementation in about a week, as Om Malik <a href=http://gigaom.com/2006/04/25/yahoo-now-offering-free-meedio/ class=bluelink>noted</a> on GigaOm.</p>
<p>That likely took just a bit longer than a week to accomplish, but who knows, maybe Yahoo&#8217;s engineers are that good. A visit to <a href=http://go.yahoo.com class=bluelink>Yahoo Go</a> and a click on the <a href=http://go.connect.yahoo.com/go/tv/get_started class=bluelink>Get Started</a> link under the TV tab shows four steps to turn the Windows PC into a digital video recorder.</p>
<p>Along with the ability to use a qualified PC&#8217;s hard drive and Yahoo Go to browse, manage, and record TV listings, Yahoo incorporated other features from its other products into Yahoo Go.</p>
<p><a href=http://www.flickr.com class=bluelink>Flickr</a> fans can browse photos posted to the service from the Go interface. Visitors can access the LAUNCHcast service to listen to online radio stations or their CDs. Go will also do video search and play movie trailers.</p>
<p>The quick relaunch of Meedio as Yahoo Go TV would seem to indicate that Yahoo&#8217;s Hollywood savvy has helped it out here. One would expect a digital video recording effort to attract the attention of the networks and their attorneys. </p>
<p>Yahoo must have been able to demonstrate in the time before formally purchasing Meedio that it could protect content from copying or forwarding on the Internet. If they haven&#8217;t, this story may have an update very soon.</p>
<p>&#8212;</p>
<p>Add to <script language='javascript'> document.write("<a href='http://del.icio.us/post?url="+encodeURIComponent(document.location.href)+"&#038;title="+encodeURIComponent(document.title)+"'>Del.icio.us</a>")</script> | <a href="javascript:void window.open('http://digg.com/submit?phase=2&#038;url='+encodeURIComponent(window.location.href)+'&#038;ei=UTF-8','popup','width=520px,height=420px,status=0,location=0,resizable=1,scrollbars=1,left=100,top=50',0)">DiggThis</a> | <a href="javascript:void window.open('http://myweb2.search.yahoo.com/myresults/bookmarklet?t='+encodeURIComponent(document.title)+'&#038;u='+encodeURIComponent(window.location.href)+'&#038;tag=Yahoo Go,Meedio','popup','width=520px,height=420px,status=0,location=0,resizable=1,scrollbars=1,left=100,top=50',0)">Yahoo!
