Telltale Games made everybody a fan of the adventure game genre last year with season one of The Walking Dead. We’re still a few months away from a second season, but the storytellers at Telltale have something in store to tide you over.

At E3, Telltale Games announced The Walking Dead 400 Days as new DLC content for The Walking Dead. The new episode will serve as a bridge of sorts between season one and two with the choices made in the episode impacting events in season two. Here’s the full synopsis:

Centered on a truck stop on a Georgia highway, The Walking Dead – 400 Days is a DLC episode for Season One of Telltale’s award-winning game series. 400 Days tells five linked stories; each taking place at different points in time and from the point of view of a different survivor, from day one of the undead apocalypse to day 400.

The five stories can be played in any order and will change based on the choices that you make. Echoes of the choices you made in Season 1 will carry over into 400 Days and the choices you make in 400 Days will resonate into Season 2.

In a FAQ on the developer’s Web site, Telltalle says that 400 Days will not feature Lee or Clementine in any way. Instead, the developers say the DLC episode serves as “interesting connective tissue between the two seasons.”

The Walking Dead 400 Days will cost $4.99 when it’s made available soon for Xbox 360, PS3, PS Vita, PC and Mac.

The two E3 trailers released this week showcase gameplay from the Transylvania and Amazon levels in the game. It looks like it retains the gameplay from the original, but it has the shiny new HD graphics that make remakes like this so wonderful to see in action.

During Konami’s pre-E3 show, the publisher gave gamers a more in-depth look at the latest Castlevania title – Lords of Shadow 2.

The developers at Mercury Steam say that Lords of Shadow 2 picks up right where the first game ended. In other words, players will take on the role of Dracula as he attempts to find a cure for his immortality.

Clocking in at six minutes, the E3 2013 trailer doesn’t really reveal all that much about the title. All I can gather from it is that Dracula is sad/angry and that he kills a lot of things. Oh, and his castle turns into a mech, because why not?

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will launch this winter for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. For PC gamers, Konami will be releasing a PC port of the first title this summer so you can catch up on the admittedly silly story.

In other Konami news, the developer announced today that Kiefer Sutherland will be the new voice of Snake in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

It was assumed that Diablo III would be a PS3/PS4 exclusive after its unveiling at the Sony PS4 event in February. Today’s announcement confirms that is not the case.

Blizzard announced today that Diablo III will be coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 on September 3. The console port of the popular PC action RPG has pretty much everything from the PC version while cutting out the bad stuff – like always online and the real money auction house. The game has also been tailored for couch co-op so you can play with three friends together in the same room.

“Playing Diablo III on a big screen with your friends brings a whole new level of intensity to the game, and with all of the control and interface adaptations we’ve made, it’s extremely fun to play on PS3 and Xbox 360,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “In addition to the fine-tuning we’ve done for the console versions, we’re also including major content and design updates we’ve made to the PC version over the past year, so players can expect an epic Diablo gaming experience when the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions launch in September.”

After this announcement, it makes one wonder if Diablo III will also be coming to the Xbox One next year. After all, being multiplatform on current gen consoles while being exclusive on next-gen consoles makes little sense. To find out more, we’ve reached out to Blizzard for comment. We’ll update if and when we hear back.

In the meantime, Blizzard would really appreciate it if you pre-ordered their first console game in years. If you do, you’ll get a game breaking XP boost armor item. Even better, Blizzard might finally be convinced to make a Lost Vikings sequel if Diablo III does well enough on consoles.

Pandora says it has already had ten million people using Pandora on Internet-connected televisions, and now they’re launching a new browser-based television experience at tv.pandora.com. The product is a complete overhaul of the TV version of Pandora people are used to.

“This is an entirely new experience designed from the ground up for your television and remote control,” says Tom Conrad, CTO and EVP of Product at Pandora. “This new initiative is standards-based and embraces next generation TV, game console, and set top box architectures that support open web standards.”

The experience currently runs from the browser on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, and it will spread to other platforms in the coming months.

“It’s also a completely new approach which will allow us to evolve the ’10 foot’ experience of Pandora with greater flexibility and speed than ever before,” says Conrad. “We’re still in the early stages of a transition to a world where all of the devices we interact with throughout the day – our TV’s, our stereos, our refrigerators, our cars, our watches, our eyeglasses — are all connected to the internet. This then begs the questions: how will developers create applications for this incredibly diverse set of devices? We think the answer can be web standards. The world doesn’t need more proprietary platforms fragmenting the innovative efforts of developers everywhere.”

A few months ago, Pandora surpassed 200 million users, and has since been adding features to make its service more appealing in the increasingly competitive online music space. Last month, Pandora premiered a feature that lets you listen to music on demand before it’s actually released. The company also launched new Facebook integration to help Facebook users populate the Music section of their profiles.

The Fable franchise has been kind of running joke in gaming ever since former Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux over promised what his ambitious Xbox RPG series could do. Despite Molyneux’s unrealistic ambitions, the original Fable is still one of the best RPGs on the system. Now it’s getting a second chance at a larger audience.

Microsoft announced today that Fable would be getting the HD treatment on the Xbox 360 later this year. There’s not a lot in the way of details just yet, but Lionhead confirmed on Major Nelson’s podcast that it would be getting a visual upgrade along with upgrades to its save system and control scheme.

Here’s the first teaser:

Fable HD is only the second HD remake to be published by Microsoft this generation after Sony popularized the trend with its numerous HD remakes of classic PS2 titles. Microsoft went above and beyond the call of duty with its Halo remake, however, so it will be interesting to see if Fable HD gets the same treatment.

We’ll probably see Fable HD at E3 in some capacity. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Lionhead announce a new project for the Xbox One as well.

In 2008, Midway released Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe on the PS3 and Xbox 360. The fighting game was a strange crossover that worked for some while not exactly winning the favor of others. NetherRealm redeemed itself earlier this year with the exclusively DC fighter Injustice: Gods Among Us, but now the developers will be introducing one character from the Mortal Kombat universe into the game.

NetherRealm announced today that Scorpion, arguably the most recognizable character from Mortal Kombat, will be joining the roster of Injustice as a DLC character. The coolest part about Scorpion’s inclusion is that Jim Lee will create a new design for the character so that he fits more easily into the DC Universe.

Previously, NetherRealm had announced Lobo and Batgirl as the first two DLC characters for Injustice. There will be more DLC characters release for the game, but it’s unknown if the developers will include more characters from the Mortal Kombat universe.

Oh, and for you Martian Manhunter fans, you’ll want to watch the end of the trailer for a little surprise.

Aside from Epic Mickey and Kingdom Hearts, Mickey Mouse has been largely absent from video games for the past 10 years. That used to not be the case back in the 80s and 90s when Capcom and Sega made fantastic games starring classic Disney characters. Now Disney is bringing those games back.

So, what is it like to create a remake to one of the most beloved Mickey Mouse games of all time? The team at Sega Australia and the creators of the original title recently spoke to Sony about bringing back Castle of Illusion to a modern audience, while retaining the beloved aspects of the original title.

Castle of Illusion is just one out of two remakes that Disney is currently working with publishers on. Capcom announced at PAX East that it had partnered with WayForward to remake the much beloved Ducktales platformer for modern platforms.

With all these Disney remakes, would it be too much to ask to have a team remake Mickey Mania? With a little bit of polish, it could be the best Mickey Mouse game ever made.

Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse will be available later this year on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Both Sony and Microsoft will be launching their next-gen consoles with a racing game. EA will be joining them with its own racing franchise later this year.

EA announced today that it’s new studio – Ghost Games – is knee-deep in development on the next Need for Speed title. The game – titled Need for Speed: Rivals – will be the first next-gen entry for the series. The game is also coming to current gen systems and the PC. Like other games from EA this year, there was no Wii U version announced.

The above trailer indicates that the footage is all in-game. It’s also revealed that Criterion is helping out with development. With their racing game expertise, Rivals may just be the prettiest, and best playing, racing game this year.

Need for Speed: Rivals will launch on November 19 for all current-gen consoles and PC. It will presumably be a launch title for the PS4 and Xbox One.
