Hammer talks about not having a twin despite Hollywood’s insistance, the Winklevii, and being recognized in a unique fashion.

The New York Times reports that Andreesen Horowitz, one of the company’s biggest investors, sold over 4.6 million shares within an hour of close. Most of these shares were reportedly the firm’s shares in Instagram, which Facebook recently acquired. The firm still has 3.6 million shares in Facebook.

Those shares that became eligible for sale includes those held by the Winklevoss Twins. TMZ reports that they’re holding onto their shares (some of them at least):

The twins own close to 6 million shares of FB stock — now worth around $125 mil — and they were free to trade their stock starting today. But we’ve learned … they will only unload $1 million worth of stock, which they will use as seed money to fund their new venture — an e-commerce website called Hukkster.com. The website tracks your favorite products and alerts you when they go on sale.

As of the time of this writing, shares are trading at $21.97. At the time of the IPO, Facebook shares opened at $38.

Now, the Winklevii have made their second major investment.

This time, the twins have invested $750,000 in Hukkster, an online shopping helper that lets you save your desired items and then notifies you when the price drops.

“Hukkster is simply a button that lives in your browser. So it’s always there when you shop online,” says the company.

The startup allows users to “Hukk” products as they find them through everyday browsing. If you see and item you like, a home accessory, pair of paints, cool new electronic device – Hukk it and you’ll receive a notification (via email) when the product goes on sale. Hukkster is still in its invite-only phase as of right now, but it can already boast 10,000 users.

According to the New York Times, Hukkster was founded by two former retail consultants, Katie Finnegan and Erica Bell. Apparently, the startup has already had success with some big retail chains including J. Crew and Bloomingdale’s.

“We started digging in and using the site,” Cameron Winkelvoss told the NYT. “We then had dinner with Katie and Erica and within a couple of weeks we had a deal confirmed.

“It’s the pull rather than the push – that’s the key. You’re only getting a notification if you’ve asked for it.”

That’s how Hukkster wants to separate itself from other services that email users will daily deals. Users only get an email notification when the price drops on a product they’ve already “Hukked.” It’s not a daily deal and it’s not a coupon, just a notification that it may be a good time to buy that product you already want.

With this investment, the Winklevoss Twins take another step away from the long, bitter litigation that kept them in the news for a couple of years.

SumZero bills itself as “the world’s largest community of hedge fund, mutual fund, and private equity professionals.” It’s a social network for investors, where they can share trading ideas and research. One of its big selling points is its exclusivity. According to the Wall Street Journal, the site currently boasts only 7,500 members.

According to the site’s cofounder, Divya Narendra, the application process is so selective that about 75% of them are ultimately rejected. And according to him, it’s still a personal thing. Apparently, Narendra reviews each application personally.

If the name Divya Narendra rings a bell, that’s because this isn’t the first time he’s been associated with the Winklevii. Narendra was part of the lawsuit against Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook, where the Winklevii claimed that the Facebook founder stole the idea for the site from them.

After years of appeals, the Winklevoss twins finally settled for $65 million ($20 million in cash, $45 million in stock).

The $1 million that the Winklevii are injecting into SumZero comes out of Winklevoss Capital, their personal venture capital firm that the two recently started.

Last month, we told you that the WInklevii had just purchased an $18 million, 8,000 sq ft mansion in Los Angeles. Apparently, that purchase signified an expansion of Winklevoss Capital to the west coast. As a result of this round of investment, SumZero will also move into the Winklevoss’ office space in NYC.

According to TMZ, the famous Facebook litigators have purchased an $18 million mansion in Hollywood Hills. The home was reportedly constructed just for the Winklevii, after they had the previous house razed. Why the big move into real estate? Apparently, the Winklevii are trying to take advantage of the California tech scene by opening a west coast arm of their startup, Winklevii Capital which is headquartered in New York City. They will live in the giant mansion, together, while they do this.

Back in May, we told you that the twins were looking for software engineers to work with their new VC company.

As you probably remember, the Winklevii were part of a long legal battle with Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook over their claims that he stole the idea for Facebook from them. After originally agreeing to a $65 million settlement ($20 million cash, $45 million stock), they later tried to get out of the agreement in order to pursue more in damages. After various appeals, it was ordered that they twins must accept the original settlement. After another failed attempt at another hearing and the threat of involving the Supreme Court, the two finally backed off.

Then, they were ordered to pay $13 million worth of legal fees to the law firm of Quinn, Emanuel, Urquhart, & Sullivan.

The twins are regularly engaged on Twitter, giving the world a glimpse into their TV viewing habits and animal preferences:

However, they have not had much to say on this historic day for Facebook, the company founded by their arch-nemesis Mark Zuckerberg. Tyler did retweet a couple of related posts:

But no actual commentary from the twins. Granted, the day is not over yet. Nothing from ConnectU partner Divya Narendra either.

The Winklevoss Twins, however, recently started their own venture capital company, and are apparently on the lookout for programmers.

“We’re looking for companies…where we can add both capital and operational experience and sort of make an impact and work with the entrepreneurs to build their team,” said Cameron Winklevoss.

Now, they’re looking for software engineers. Well, Cameron Winklevoss is. But since his Twitter details still boasts that “he’s 6’5″, 220 and there’s two of me,” we’ll just assume that both the twins are in on it.

On Tuesday, Cameron Winklevoss tweeted this to his followers:

If you’re unfamiliar, Ruby on Rails is an open-source web app framework based on the Ruby programming language.

So, what are the Winklevii planning? Whatever it is, Twitter employee Andrew Row’s reply suggests that they play it safe this time:

As you may remember, we’re big fans of the Winklevii on Twitter around here. Usually we like to track their non-business-oriented tweets, such as dispatches about their love of Big Bird, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the fact that someone was recently screwing with them at JFK airport.

On that front, I’d be remiss to leave out that Cameron Winklevoss seems to have found the best show on television:

And after perusing their Twitter feeds this morning, we’ve found that someone is screwing with them at the John F. Kennedy airport.

We’ll keep following the daily tweets of the Winklevii, and keep uncovering gems about Cameron changing his name to Cam Dotcom, Tyler being a huge Ninja turtles fan and partying with Big Bird. Perhaps we’ll even get a bit of wisdom on the future of the desktop computer.

Everybody else, just carry on.

Whether you believe their account of how the whole Facebook thing went down, or you think that they are the world’s all-time best piggybackers, you can’t deny that they played a huge role in the saga that is Facebook. And since Facebook is one of biggest entities in the world, their continuing story remains pretty relevant.

Plus, some of this stuff is gold.

Earlier this year, we saw that Cameron Winklevoss wanted to change his name to Cam Dotcom. Later, we saw that Tyler Winklevoss was a huge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fan. Now, may I present to you without commentary – Tyler Winklevoss and Big Bird:

In all seriousness, the Winklevii stand to gain quite a bit of dough from the upcoming Facebook IPO. Part of their settlement included $45 million in stock – stock whose value is about to climb.

For example, did you know that Tyler Winklevoss is apparently a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Hi latest tweet points to a video about the Turtles’ talking brain nemesis Krang:

It is a pretty good video. Clearly he has good taste in cartoon villains.

This isn’t the first time we’ve noticed the the Winklevoss’ nack for exotic Twitter hashtags.

Then again, some people are trend setters rather than followers. The Winklevii might tell you, for example, they set the trend of social networking at Harvard.
