iEntry Inc. CEO Rich Ord and WebProNews Managing Editor Mike McDonald descended on Boston last night to attend the annual VON conference – but not for what the ten year old conference is known for. They’ll be attending the new VON, or video-on-the-net.

Founded in 1996 by Jeff Pulver, the annual VON conference has typically focused on revolutionary Internet protocol technologies and their uses for voice transmission and technical standards and development.

This year, however, Pulver added the Video on the Net component for those interested in spearheading the next Internet revolution, which will be in video. WebProNews is actively pursuing a video future, and so here we are in Boston among the pioneers of the industry.

At Fall 2006 Video on the Net, we will be taking a hard look at the effects of the broadband internet on the movie, TV and broadcast industries. We are bringing together people who are helping to define the space and those that are being disrupted today as well those who we believe will be the disruptors of tomorrow.

Featured speakers include Ted Leonsis, vice chairman of AOL, Caroline Little, CEO and publisher of Washingtonpost and Newsweek Interactive, Dmitry Shapiro, CEO of Veoh, Jeremy Allaire, CEO of Brightcove, Bram Cohen, CEO of BitTorrent, Jason Krikorian, founder of Sling Media, and Jeff Jarvis of Buzz Machine.

An A-list of organizations are also participating in the event, including CNN, Comcast, Harvard Business School, Microsoft, Nielsen Analytics, Rocketboom, Sprint, TiVo, and Yahoo!.
