Microsoft’s Brandon Paddock has independantly written the first amazing PowerToy for Windows Vista, one that takes the search function of the Start menu and tricks it out, called Start++. What Start++ does is extend the search to let you run all these search shortcuts from the Start menu search box. For instance:
Wikipedia search: Type “w washington”, and you will launch Wikipedia, and search for Washington
Linux Option for Dell PCs?

Reports have surfaced throughout the blogosphere that Dell may be considering offering its customers the choice of a preinstalled Linux distribution when purchasing new PCs from the company.
The speculation stems from Dell’s IdeaStorm website, where the discussion surrounding the possibility of Linux distribution and support is currently dominating the community consciousness.
Anything Good About Vista and Office 2007?
I haven’t yet upgraded to Windows Vista or Microsoft Office 2007. Still running Windows XP and Office Pro 2003 with every patch and update that’s been released. I do plan to upgrade.
However, the negative experiences of some people give me a bit of a pause for thought.
Yahoo Drops Search Gadget Into The Vista
The Yahoo Desktop Products team released the Yahoo Search Gadget for Windows Vista this week, the company's only Vista-only product.
The Search Gadget works from the Windows Vista sidebar, bypassing the need to open a separate web browser. Users can access Web search, Yahoo Answers, Local, and Video from the gadget.

Microsoft has been running in beta in some foreign markets a website called MSN Reporter that copies many features from the popular Digg website. On MSN Reporter, users share and rate news, rating them up or down with giant “Kicken!” and “Dumpen!” buttons (translated as “Kick it” and “Dump it”).
