When I think of incredible sights, a bunch of bumpy gray rock is not the first thing that comes to mind.  But toss in some astronauts and a few lunar rovers, and now we’re talking.  And now Google’s showing – an updated version of Google Moon has become available.

Roughly ten days ago, Robert Scoble suggested that Facebook would, in a few years’ time, defeat Google.  Pretty much everyone within hearing range responded with something along the lines of “fat chance,” and I agree with ‘em.  Still, Orkut is just now introducing a feature that Facebook had about a year ago.

An interesting start to the week as Google’s John Hanke offers up an explanation on the recent outcry concerning the company’s decision to use pre-Katrina imagery in Google Maps. What? I had more than one story about integrations and such, and that was easily the worst title I could think of. Who would have thought there was a way to include “stuff” in a title four times, and have it vaguely make sense?

Google is usually on the cutting edge, or at least near it. The company’s latest “innovations” are intentionally out of date, though. Google Earth will now feature historical maps dating back as far as the 17th century.
