Google Analytics users know that the product just underwent a transformation to a new version, and now Google is adding even more accessibility features to the service.

Today, Google has added functionality for nine new languages to Analytics.

The new languages are: Arabic, Croatian, Hebrew, Hindi, Latvian, Romanian, Serbian, Slovenian, and Ukrainian.

We are confident this will improve the usage of Google Analytics across the world, and help website owners and AdWords advertisers get even more out of their internet marketing efforts. Happy data mining!

These nine new languages bring the total to 40 total languages available to Google Analytics users – “quite the polygot,” according to Google.

If you wish to change the language for Google Analytics, you must be using the new version. Make sure you’re logged in to your Google account, then click on the settings button at the top right.

Google Analytics has also updated the help center to support these nine new languages.

Facebook announced today that they will begin shoving the timeline down users’ throats. It’s being pushed to everyone over the next few weeks, and once you get it you have a week to make it presentable.

From the Facebook blog:

Last year we introduced timeline, a new kind of profile that lets you highlight the photos, posts and life events that help you tell your story. Over the next few weeks, everyone will get timeline. When you get timeline, you’ll have 7 days to preview what’s there now. This gives you a chance to add or hide whatever you want before anyone else see’s it.

You can learn more about these new features by taking the quick tour available at the top of your timeline. If you want to get timeline now, go to the Introducing Timeline page and click “Get Timeline.” Or you can wait until you see an announcement at the top of your home page.

This came as an update to a previous blog post. On December 15th, 2011, Facebook announced that Timeline was available to everyone and would become mandatory soon. Now is that time.

Personally, I kind of like the new Facebook Timeline. I think it’s a much-needed update to the tired old profile design that users have seen for a while now. But not everyone shares my opinion, and plenty of users have been vocal in their displeasure. When Timeline went live for all users (by choice), scam groups popped up on Facebook offering to deactivate the Timeline. Thousands of users liked the pages, only to find that they had just opened their profile up to malicious, spammy apps.

Plus, privacy groups have made it clear that they think the Timeline feature is a violation of Facebook’s privacy policy as determined by a recent FTC settlement.

Nevertheless, it’s coming. And once it hits your profile, you have a week to hide all those “freshman 15″ photos from 2005 and promote all of those witty statuses you made last year.

What do you think about the Facebook Timeline? Let us know in the comments.

Bradley Horowitz has a fairly lengthy blog post up this morning detailing various updates and improvements to the Google+ platform and according to him, these aren’t just “bells and whistles” but “really deep improvements.”

These new features will be rolling out over the course of the next few days. This looks to be the culmination of Google’s #seasonforshipping, which was promoted by Google employees across Google+ as a period of important new upgrades and added features.

Horowitz had this to say in a Google+ post Monday morning:

I’m really thrilled to announce new features and functionality, all of which will be rolling out in the next day or so… These aren’t bells-and-whistles, but really deep improvements that I’m sure you are going to love.

The team knocked it out of the park… Huge congrats and thanks to the many folks who really gave of themselves to make this pre-holiday mega-launch possible. (I hope they find a moment to recharge during the holidays, because we have some awesome stuff planned for 2012!)

Enjoy, and as usual, tell us what you think so that we can learn, improve and adapt accordingly.

The first new feature is probably a long time coming for many users – a noise filter. Google will soon allow users to customize the volume of posts they see in their main Google+ streams from each contact – with a simple slider at the top of people’s specific pages. This way, in theory, heavy posters won’t be able to drown out everyone else on your stream.

After just recently introducing Google+ pages for businesses, Google has looked at all of the feedback and made some adjustments based on the top complaints and requests. One huge new thing that will be rolling out soon is the ability to add 50 different users as administrators to the pages.

There will also be a new notification system for admins as well as a very basic little page stat counter that allows admins to see page interaction – by way of +1′s and circle adds.

Another year-end improvement coming to Google+ involves photos:

Viewing a photo in Lightbox has been completely redesigned with improved navigation, enhanced comment legibility and better overall utility. This design makes the photo the hero, letting the content itself shine through. And we’re introducing a completely new photo-tagging experience that’s both fun and fluid, and lets you quickly focus on the people in your photos.

Google will also roll out improved notifications for everyone with instant “sneak previews” and functionality that allows you to see all the +1s and shares that your posts receive.

Last week, Google+ made small improvements like allowing search results to be filtered by location.

Do you think it will be a good new year for Google+? Let us know in the comments.

For a little while now, Google has displayed all of their previous Google Doodles in one specific place, and Google Doodle enthusiasts have been able to browse through every Doodle (beginning in 1998) displayed for countries all over the world.

That site has just received a pretty significant overhaul, and the folks at Google are pretty excited about it.

You can still browse through all of the Doodle, filtered by year and country – just like before. But Google has added deeper interaction with each specific Doodle.

For instance, if I click on that awesome Les Paul Doodle from June, 2011, I am taken to a page when I can interact with the Doodle (read rock out on the guitar) and learn some information behind the Doodle as well.

We’ve always thought it was a little sad that doodles are only available on the homepage for a day. Since we’re firm believers in having too much of a good thing, we set up a gallery of all our previous doodles a while ago. Now on the new site, you can browse, watch or play with over 1000 doodles. Enjoy front-row tickets to a Martha Graham dance, send the first man to space or learn more about why one doodler decided to “cartoonize” Mary Blair.

Google has also added the Doodle Store to the mix, allowing you to order a variety of items stamped with your favorite Google Doodles. This includes T-shirts, coffee mugs, posters, stamps and even skateboards. This holiday season, make sure to snag a Pierre de Fermat-inspired coffee mug for all the math geeks out there.

Google just added a new search feature to Google+ that allows you to filter search results by location. And here’s how you do it:

First, perform a search within Google+. It could be anything – from sunsets, to football, to food and more. Once you reach the results page, click the “from everywhere” tab at the top of the results. There, just enter a city or a zip code to filter.

The location filter does a good job of targeting the specific areas that you want to browse. It pulls in surrounding areas as well – for instance, a search for “Food” in “Los Angeles” fetches results from the cities of Pasadena and Long Beach (both in Los Angeles County).

Here’s what it looks like in action, as you’ll see a search for football narrowed down to “Green Bay” shows a top post of a pic from Lambeau Field.

Of course, for a post to appear in the location-specific search results, the user will have had to tag the post with a location. This, at least initially, is leading to the location filters bringing up a lot of Google place check-ins.

This search update is part of Google’s #seasonforshipping, an initiative they announced earlier this week where they plan to “ship new improvements to Google+ every single day”

Today, Twitter announced a major redesign that is currently rolling out to users. According to their blog, the new design is more streamlined with four new tabs that emphasize discovery. You can read more about the update here.

Along with these design changes, Twitter is also unveiling the ability for developers and bloggers to easily embed tweets, simply by clicking a link on the particular tweet’s permalink page.

“Every Tweet has a story that’s more than just 140 characters. It has an author, mentions @people and #topics, contains media, and has actions you can use to share or join the conversation. It’s a dynamic piece of media, and we believe that everyone should be able to view and interact with Tweets on the Web in the same ways you would from any Twitter client,” said Twitter’s Brian Ellin in a blog post.

Here’s what the new option will look like on the individual tweets:

And here’s the lightbox that will pop up. It allows for a little bit of customization and provides the full HTML code for the tweet as well as the shortcode (for applicable platforms) and the simple URL:

Finally, here’s how the embedded tweet will look on your site:

The embedded tweets will allow you to reply, retweet and favorite them as well as follow the tweeter directly from the third-party site.

Twitter announced a new version launch today that has a new simplified design as well as the addition of four new tabs to help users stay in touch with their interests more easily.

Twitter’s blog details the changes users can expect and offers this video as a tutorial-cum-preview:

The four new tabs that you can start planning to get acquainted with are Home, Connect, Discover, Me, and Tweet, which will look like this:

You’ll notice that the stream of Tweets has been swapped to the right side of your screen with the left side now the location of trending topics, suggestions on people to follow and your own profile details (your bio, tweets, and followers). The biggest change in the re-design seems to be the Discover tab, which appears to consolidate the Who To Follow, Find Friends and Browse Interests actions into one page. Additionally, the Discover tab will also link users to stories via tweets where you can preview stories from news sources, watch videos within the tweet, and follow tweets related to the story.

While most people typically groan at any site’s redesign (I distinctly recall several tweets of that variety during Twitter’s last redesign, which wasn’t all that long ago), this new concept looks to be a lot more streamlined and to be an actual improvement to Twitter’s navigation (I reserve the right to be mistaken on this).

Additional information can be found by following the #letsfly trend that Twitter has initiated where users can find tips on how to navigate the new interface. While not available on Twitter’s site just yet, the redesigned version is immediately available through mobile.twitter.com, Twitter for iPhone, and Twitter for Android. If you’ve already updated your Twitter app on your phone, let us know what you think? How easy has the adjustment been for you?

At the very beginning on this month, Google released a long-awaited Gmail app to the Apple App Store. Many had been wishing for a native Gmail client for their iPhones, due to to the fact that so many Gmail features were lost by running it through the native iOS email app – and running Gmail through a browser doesn’t allow for the all-important push notifications.

So sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, right?

In theory, yes. But the launch of the Gmail iOS app was met with harsh criticism – mainly due to numerous bugs that rendered the app nearly unusable. The all-important push notifications weren’t functional, and some users even reported that the app would crash on startup. Google took a lot of flak for their missteps, and quickly pulled the app from the App Store.

Now, Google has announced that they have reintroduced the Gmail app to the App Store:

Two weeks ago, we introduced our Gmail app for iOS. Unfortunately it contained a bug which broke notifications and displayed an error message, so we removed it from the App Store. We’ve fixed the bug and notifications are now working, and the app is back in the App Store.

Part of the complaints when the app originally launched dealt with its lack of features. Google says that they have heard those complaints, and are working to bring those features to users in the near future.

In the short time the app was public we received a lot of helpful feedback and feature requests. This included requests for everything from bigger features like multiple account support to customizations like improved notifications and mobile specific signatures.

We’re just getting started with the Gmail app for iOS and will be iterating rapidly to bring you more features, including all the ones listed above plus many more.

If you want to give the Gmail for iOS app another go, it’s now available for iOS 4 and above. If you have the old, buggy version installed you’ll have to uninstall it before you can access the new, hopefully unbuggy version.

What do you think about the Gmail iOS app? Let us know in the comments.

Gmail has a new look, and it’s live for everyone who wants to make the change.

In the coming days, Google will switch everyone over to the new Gmail, but those of us anxious to see the new look can switch right now. Just hard refresh the page and look for the “Switch to the new look” link at the bottom right-hand side of the screen.

Here is what’s new about the Gmail redesign:

Conversation view has been redesigned to be more streamlined. Profile pictures of contacts now show up in the view, and it had been stripped down in order to make it more user-friendly.

Google says that Gmail now has a better search function. There’s a new advanced search panel in the search box that is supposed to make it easier to find what you’re looking for.

Google has rolled out new HD themes, provided by iStockphoto.

New “elastic density” automatically changes the spacing between elements based on the size of the display you’re currently using to view Gmail. You can still change the density manually if you’d like.

The left-side navigation panel keeps labels and contacts there at all times, and there are more customization features.

From what I’ve noticed, the interface has been cleaned up a little as well, hiding certain functions until they are necessary to be displayed. All in all, the new Gmail looks cleaner (possibly simplistic to some) and more compact – considering you set the density levels to suit your needs.

Twitter gives us a look into some of the early feedback, which seems to be split:

Facebook is currently holding their big f8 conference right now, and Mark Zuckerberg has already announced some massive changes to Facebook. When all of the changes take hold, it’s going to look fundamentally different than anything we’ve ever seen with social networking (for good or for bad).

The first big change is to Facebook’s profile system. Goodbye profiles, hello Timeline. The New timeline seeks to keep track of your entire social life, from birth up to the presents. It includes everything – photos, apps, statuses and much more. More about that here.

Zuckerberg has also unveiled “Open Graph,” which “adds the verbs” according to him. Basically, this means that you no longer have to “like” everything, you simply do things. “Josh read X book,” “Josh reviewed X restaurant,” etc. More about the open graph here.

Facebook has also announced new integrations with services like Spotify and Slacker Radio.

Here’s some of the Twitter chatter about the big changes being made at Facebook –
