MSN Search Update

MSN announced they are upgrading relevancy and coverage. The increased coverage likely means that more inbound link sources are getting indexed. From looking at rankings of a few of my sites it looks like:

Just as the commotion died down over Microsoft’s Live Search update, Yahoo comes forward with some thunder of its own, unveiling its new Search Assist feature, an interface also focused more on user intent (the new buzz word in search, apparently), with a healthy dose of user-generated content thrown in for good measure.

The Search Engine Strategies session on Universal and Blended Search was the highlight of the day at SES on Monday. A great panel made up of a cross section of industry luminaries made for stimulating and varied discussion of one of the biggest things to launch in search for years. Panelist Greg Jarboe of SEO-PR suggested that Universal search is a huge development and rivals the Google Florida update.

SES – Universal & Blended Search

I was running around the convention center the whole day today, making sure the magazines where in the bins and that the booth was set up so, regrettably, I was only able to make it to one session.

The session was dedicated to universal and blended search, a topic of interested to many marketers these days. The big takeaway for me from this session was that universal search is still in flux and even the leading industry experts don’t have all the answers.

Google, Universal Get In On DRM-Free Music

Thanks to Universal Music Group and a new service called gBox, DRM-free music will become available through Google’s search engine.  Sounds interesting, right?  You should also know that these songs will be 30 cents cheaper than the ones sold by iTunes.
