While his team may not have defeated the New York Giants — Justin Tuck, not Eli should’ve been the MVP — it’s clear the graphic NBC used to “promote” the New England quarterback were in a world of their own. In fact, the three graphics may have trumped David Beckham’s commercial for the most awkward moment award of the Super Bowl.

In case you missed them, these gems showed up sometime during the third quarter, and to tell the truth, it looks like NBC used outtake photographs instead of official promotional material. Maybe during the session when these pictures were taken, there were a number of photography sessions, and these were pieces of greatness were supposed to be throwaways. However, instead of the discarding them, someone trolled Brady and used the silly images instead.

The lead image is a gift in and of itself, but the fun didn’t stop there:

These images left such an impression, a number of prominent NFL blogs jumped on the bandwagon, as folks try and digest all that we were exposed to during last night’s “event.” According to Kissing Suzy Kolber’s irreverent style, Brady’s graphics are “so hawt.” In the oh-so-quotable words of Christmas Ape:

[Brady] might have also hung up an underthrown deep ball to Gronkowski that was picked, but Collinsworth wanted to blame that one on Gronk for some misguided reason, which is dumb but helps us stick with a theme. Anyway, Dreamboat got some Brady-ain’t-care trolling for his own in before all was said and done, posing for an NBC in-game montage looking FIERCE…

Over at Yahoo’s Shutdown Corner blog, the Mighty MJD gets in on the Brady fun, as does Deadspin. From Deadspin’s perspective, NBC’s apparent goal was to make players look “as demented as possible.”

All things considered, I’m going to stick with the idea that NBC’s graphic designers are a bunch of trolls. Whatever the case, Brady’s graphics are gifts that keep on giving.

Well, the concept went viral on a local level, anyway. What we have here is a city, Indianapolis, rooting for the brother of their team’s franchise quarterback, Peyton Manning. Peyton’s brother, Eli, is the starting quarterback for the New York Giants

When the Giants take the field on Sunday, it appears as if the city of Indianapolis, or at least pockets of it, will be rooting for Peyton’s brother. Part of the brief switch in allegiance (going from the Colts to Team Eli) has to do with the fact that Indianapolis Colts fans don’t like Tom Brady or the New England Patriots. The other reason has to do, no doubt, with the fact that Eli is Peyton’s brother.

Sporting a “Not in our town, Tom” graphic, the “Indy for Eli” site is clear where its owners will be rooting. The (brief) movement has seen a jump in its viral popularity, thanks to the local news outlets latching on to the movement, giving it a life of its own, at least on a local level:

The first image is a screenshot of Indianapolis local news station, WISHTV Channel 8 and the second is courtesy of a tweet from Jason Spells, a sportscaster for WRTV, also an Indianapolis affiliate.

There’s also a Facebook fan page for the “Indy for Eli” movement, and while it is pretty active, there aren’t many fans. Considering the Super Bowl is this Sunday, it’s doubtful the shift will be that dramatic, but then again, you never know. Perhaps some bored Colts fans get wind of the movement and decide to join in. With the amount of local exposure “Indy for Eli” is getting, this is entirely possible.

Not every successful viral venture has to be on a national scale. If a few thousand Colts fans join the movement, then the mission has to be considered successful.

That deep, cavernous sucking sound that you hear is the sound of Roger Goodell’s head imploding.

That’s because Tom Brady, the chosen one, the man with the golden arm, Jesus Christ with a trendy haircut and a pair of Uggs – that Tom Brady, is nothing but a lowly pirate like the rest of us.

Media week at the Super Bowl involves a lot of talking. The result of all of that talking is that Tom Brady admitted to watching the Green Bay Packers beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on a *gasp* illegal streaming site!

The exact quote:

Last year, I was rehabbing my foot in Costa Rica watching the game on an illegal Super Bowl website and now I’m actually playing in the game, so it’s pretty cool.

Now, the NFL isn’t too keen on the whole streaming TV sites thing and are pretty protective of their copyrights (see SOPA support). But this just proves that when you can’t get the product (here, a game) through normal means, even Tom Brady will find it somewhere on the interwebs.

On Thursday, the DOJ seized numerous streaming sites, including firstrowsports.tv, soccerlive.net and more. This was the first time that .TV sites have been targeted in a DOJ takedown operation.

For many, however, those streaming sites won’t be necessary this year. For the first time, the NFL is allowing the big game to be streamed by “legitimate” means. The live stream starts at 2pm on Sunday at NBC’s Super bowl site.

Although the Super Bowl is now being streamed with the blessing of the NFL, we can look at the implications of Tom Brady’s little admission. What about all the other NFL games over the course of the regular season that don’t receive special streaming allowances. If the NFL’s golden boy feels justified in streaming a game when he can’t watch it through normal means, it’s gotta be alright for your average Joe to follow suit.

The Yahoo search blog has just released a trove of search stats regarding all things Super Bowl, and it’s clear that if the Super Bowl could be decided by search volume the New England Patriots would have this thing in …

The Yahoo search blog has just released a trove of search stats regarding all things Super Bowl, and it’s clear that if the Super Bowl could be decided by search volume the New England Patriots would have this thing in the bag.

Yahoo says that the Patriots had 50% more searches this year than the NY Giants. Another metric listed the Pats as the winners of the Mobile Super Bowl, saying that Patriots fans were the most mobile savvy of the two fansets. Unfortunately, these interweb victories for the Patriots probably won’t have any bearing on what happens on the gridiron. But it’s interesting to note that folks have been more curious about the Patriots throughout the entire 2011-2012 season.

When it boils down to specific Quarterbacks, it’s all about recency. Over the course of the season, Tom Brady received double the searches of Eli Manning (probably UGG related). If you just look at the regular season, Brady garnered four times the searches that Eli did. But during the playoffs, Eli Manning has bested Brady in search volume. Eli’s search surge seems to parallel the surging Giants, who only seem to get better as they progress deeper into the season.

People are not just concerned about Brady and Manning’s football lives, but their personal lives as well. The search term “Tom Brady baby” is up 1,109% while the term “Eli Manning girlfriend” is up 1,201%.

When it comes to the coaches, Bill Belichick has received five times the searches of Tom Coughlin.

Yahoo also tracked some of the Super Bowl party-related queries. Here are the most searched dips this month:

Buffalo Chicken dip

Spinach dip

7 Layer Mexican dip

Spinach Artichoke dip

Crab dip

Taco dip

Guacamole dip

Chicken Wing dip (huh?)

Cheese Dip

Shrimp dip

The term “Super bowl recipes” is up 210%, with 70% of them coming from women. The top three recipes searches are “chicken recipes,” “crockpot recipes,” and meatloaf recipes.”

About that other part of the Super Bowl that we all love, the one that’s not the actual game or the food – Matthew Broderick’s Ferris Bueller-themed Honda ad has been the top searched Super bowl commercial this year.

Will you we watching the game? Who’s gonna take home the Lombardi? Let us know in the comments.

The Denver Broncos play the New England Patriots this Saturday night for the right to go the AFC Conference Finals, so you know what that means, right? Of course you do. It’s Tim Tebow time. As we already know, the man they call Tebow rules ESPN, and the Twitterverse, which means this upcoming weekend already belongs to him.

If you thought last week’s excessive coverage was bad, Heaven help us if the Broncos actually beat the Patriots. That will mean Tim Tebow will be one game away from the Super Bowl, which, in turn, will mean “Tebow Time” to a level approaching the Nth degree. Such a level would actually be surpassed if the Broncos actually do make the Super Bowl, but that’s another story for another day. If the Broncos were to actually win the whole thing, you’d have to cancel your cable and your Internet subscriptions to escape the inevitable tidal waves of Tebow mania.

Since we’re not quite at the point yet, let us simply enjoy the current wave of “Tebow Time” we’re enjoying, encapsulated beautifully with the lead image and the following video, termed loving as, “Sh*t Tebow Says.” Courtesy of the Mentality Magazine site (hat-tip to With Leather for pointing it out), the video does a good job of capturing the man (the myth) in all of his divine glory:

While the video is indeed entertaining, the lead image, courtesy of Kissing Suzy Kolber’s Matt Ufford, it is an incredible testimony to the entire Tim Tebow saga, at least for his professional football stage. There’s not much else out there that can sum up Tebow’s NFL journey than an image of previous Denver Broncos hero John Elway (and current executive VP of the franchise) riding on a Tebow centaur.

In fact, the image does such a great job of capturing what “Tebow Time” really means, it has to be considered a work of art.

After blasting the Miami Dolphins defense with 517 yards passing and four touchdowns while leading his New England Patriots to a 38-24 win, the morning belongs to Tom Brady. All of the sports outlets, blogs and mainstream media, are buzzing, as is the world of Twitter. It should be noted, however, not all of the Twitter buzz concerning Brady is due to his ripping of the Dolphins.

There’s also the situation of Brady’s new Ugg’s commercial, which, while being well done, is still an object of scorn. Normally, when one thinks of Ugg’s, thoughts of college co-eds in yoga pants and fuzzy boots come to mind. You know, something like this:

So when the Tom Brady/Ugg’s partnership was announced, it was met with some humor. Nevertheless, that didn’t deter Brady from rocking them out in his new commercial:

As indicated, Brady is trending on Twitter at the moment, and part of the trend is reacting to his great game against the Dolphins, while others are trying to clown Brady for wearing Ugg’s. Even ESPN personalities are not above cracking jokes at the NFL’s golden boy:

While that sentiment is understandable, especially from non-Patriots fans, the following line of thinking is ruling the day, at least in the name of Tom Brady:

Oops, she’s done it again. In the wake of the now infamous head-shaving incident, Britney Spears has, for better or worse, once more become the main topic of conversation throughout the entertainment industry.

The emergence of Bald Britney was one of those moments in history that you knew was going to have a much deeper impact than merely becoming the top story on the evening news.

This sordid tale of hair clippers, tattoo artistry and Red Bull has burned itself into the collective consciousness of the United States, evidence of which can be clearly observed by looking at last week’s Google Zeitgeist.

You guessed it; Britney Spears has found herself in a familiar place in the hearts and minds of Internet searchers across the country. She takes the top spot in the weekly Zeitgeist and in the tabloid headlines as fans of the pop starlet await the “Shave Me Baby One More Time” remix of her debut single.

Taking a backseat to the newly shorn Spears was the Lunar New Year, which finished a respectable second in the weekly poll of the most popular searches on Google. Also known as the Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival, the event took place on February 18th as billions throughout China and across the world ushered in the year of the Pig.

Tom Brady and Bridget Moynahan also cracked the top ten following the announcement that the recently estranged couple are expecting a child together. With the greatest quarterback of our era and one of the most beautiful women in the world as the parents, this child looks to carry a pedigree that has “fame” written all over it.

Lent and Ash Wednesday also gained search popularity as Catholics across the world prepare for the upcoming celebration of the Easter holiday.

Here’s the entire Zeitgeist for the week ending February 24, 2007:

1.	Britney Spears
2.	Lunar New Year
3.	Antonella Barba
4.	Bridget Moynahan
5.	American Idol
6.	Ash Wednesday
7.	Tom Brady
8.	Dancing With The Stars
9.	Lent
10.	Black Snake Moan

The New England Patriots pulled off an improbable upset by defeating the top seeded San Diego Chargers last Sunday in an AFC Divisional Playoff showdown. Coming off the victory, Patriot quarterback Tom Brady is enjoying a newfound surge in popularity according to the Yahoo Buzz Log.

Good looks, a large bank account, 3 Super Bowl trophies… these are just a few of the reasons to admire Tom Brady. Now take into consideration that the already highly decorated quarterback is still in his twenties, with the prime of his career yet before him, and it begins to become clearer why Brady is becoming one of the most heralded athletes of our generation.

Searchers would seem to agree, as Brady-related queries spiked after the Patriots upset win over the San Diego Chargers last weekend.

Here’s a breakdown of the figures from Yahoo:

After leading his squad to a stunning come-from-behind win over the Chargers, queries on Brady spiraled up 83%. Gals gaga over Tom’s good looks scurried to the Search box to find “tom brady pictures” (+93%).

We compared Brady’s searches to the three remaining quarterbacks in the NFL playoffs. It isn’t even close. In a blowout, Brady pulls in twice as many searches as rival QB Peyton Manning. Manning’s skills as a pitchman can’t be questioned, but he’ll never come close to Brady-level buzz until he brings home some Super Bowl bling. Brady notches four times as many searches as either of the NFC signal callers, even with recent surges in interest in both Drew Brees (+371%) and Rex Grossman (+224%).

This Sunday, Brady will clash with rival Peyton Manning as the Patriots take on the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game, with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. Should the Pats emerge victorious, one can bet that Brady-related searches will continue to enjoy steady growth.

Don’t feel sorry for Tom, however, should the Patriots come up on the losing end of the encounter. When you’ve got Gisele Bundchen on your arm, it’s nigh impossible to feel like anything but a winner.

(Disclaimer: I am a fanatical supporter of both Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. GO PATS!)
