Microsoft’s Mac Business Unit announced Tuesday that their timetable has them releasing file converters to read Office 2007 file formats in older Mac versions of Office sometime this Spring, probably late March/early April.

In Silicon Valley, there is one must read – it’s TechMeme. Gabe Rivera has done a great job at getting the zeitgeist of the Web 2.0 and blogging leaders – and heck, I’m in there, so it’s gotta be great.

Now and then I see people write about “blogging” when they’re really talking about the less than 1% of blogs that find themselves writing about each other in an almost herd-like and insular fashion sometimes. Often they’ll all devote many bits and bytes to some trivial topic of the moment related to Google, blogging, Microsoft, patents, or government.

Speaking of all this TechMeme horsey business today I’m taking my camcorder over to chat with Kevin Burton, founder of TechMeme competitor TailRank.

Gabe Rivera of news aggregator Techmeme says, “if your blog or news article sends a moderate level of traffic to one of my sites, it will be evaluated for inclusion.”

I don’t want to be a gigantic wet blanket or anything, but looking at the top of Techmeme right now makes me despair for the future of the human race.
