Regardless if you’re a child or an elder, the Super Bowl is one event watched no matter the age. It’s a clash of titans, the best of the best. All the year’s hard work comes to a head only to eventually explode in glorious victory.

With that being covered, it’s no wonder the big game was named as the most watched television program is history. Now, only adding compliment to courtesy, it has been named the most streamed online program in history with well over 2.1 million viewers. The NFL said that NBC’s streaming of the game was a “tremendous success in its first year”, according to a report in The New York Times

This is the first year NBC has streamed the Super Bowl live over the web, although they do regularly stream other games during the regular season.

SVP, Business Development and Managing Director of Digital Media, NBC Sports Group, Kevin Monaghan said this about the stream:

“The Super Bowl XLVI live stream exceeded our expectations in every way. Increasingly, sports fans are looking to digital coverage as a complementary ‘second screen’ experience, and we delivered on that promise with unprecedented robust coverage. The record traffic that grew throughout the event, as well as the record high engagement numbers, underscores the complementary aspect of digital as an enhancement to our exceptional television coverage.”

Hans Schroeder, NFL Senior Vice President of Media Strategy and Development commented on NBC’s streaming of the game:

“It was exciting to work with NBC Sports to offer fans the Super Bowl in more ways than ever before. The Super Bowl live stream was a tremendous success in its first year. We will continue to look for more ways to reach our fans.”

NBC says 2,105,441 active and unique users streamed Sunday’s game, while 4,589,593 live video streams were open. Combined, users spent 78,624,422 minutes streaming the game with an average of greater than 39 minutes spent actively engaged in viewing the game online.

The Boston Herald is reporting that the two radio hosts attended ESPN’s Super Bowl party last night. What should have been a fun time for all apparently brought up old memories that both men would probably like to forget. Those memories specifically being when Russillo hit on Dennis’ daughter seven years ago.

People who were at the party say that the two men were obviously angry with each other. How angry? Unfortunately, Russillo deleted the offending tweets so we just have Dennis’ to work off of. Those who did see the tweets say that Russillo challenged Dennis to a fight and called him a “fake tough guy.”

EA Sports has decided to reduce the price of Madden 12 for Android ahead of the Super Bowl. It’s usually $4.99, but if you go the Android Market right now, you can grab it for 99 cents. That’s a pretty good deal for the Android version of one of the most popular gaming franchises in all of gaming, though some have reported bugs with it.

The game has more 5 star ratings than other ratings on the Android Market, though its average is 3.3. Of course a $4 dollar discount can be more persuasive than negative reviews.

The app is now optimized for Android tablets.

Chicken wings, whether hot, barbecued, plain, sweet and sour or any other way, are one of, if not the most convenient fast foods available. Now with Super Bowl Sunday encroaching upon us, it’s apparent that wings are at the forefront of the food category. It has been estimated, no matter how they’re prepared, there will be approximately 1.25 billion wings served at parties, bars and other social gatherings alike on the day of the game.

One wing enthusiast was quoted saying:

“They are easy to bring to parties and easy finger food to eat.”

Reportedly, Buffalo wings were created in the year 1964 at a bar in Buffalo, NY. Apparently the delicious wings attracted such celebrities as John Candy to Hilary Clinton. Traditionally, wings are served with bleu cheese and celery or ranch dressing and celery. In Buffalo, NY, Mayor Stan Makowski titled July 29th Official Chicken Wing Day back in 1977. If you can do the math, 1.25 billion wings comes out to somewhere around 100 million pounds of chicken flappers: that’s certainly an impressive number. Traditional wings are found to be most popular among people, but boneless wings are steadily gaining popularity. Restaurants across the nation are preparing for a booming take-out business day well within the week and franchises aren’t going to slack on service either according to one manager of Buffalo Wild Wings. Even with the one day event of the Super Bowl, the wing popularity doesn’t intend to stop with March madness just around the corner, wings are ready to fly into the mouths of basketball fans too.

And it doesn’t hurt that the NFL has made #superbowl a promoted hashtag. Between the actual game, all of the pre-game theatrics, and then the commercials – Twitter is set to be dominated by the Super Bowl all week.

Social media agency Banyan Branch has already been monitoring the Twitter trends surrounding the Super Bowl and have discovered a couple of interesting things. First, and most unsurprising, the Quarterbacks seems to be getting the most chatter. Out of those Quarterbacks, Tom Brady is being discussed the most on the site.

The most interesting trend that they found was that people are actually talking about the Giants more as a team, but talking about people on the Patriots as individuals more. “Giants” beat the “Patriots,” but “Belichick” and “Brady” beat “Coughlin” and “Manning.”

Just 5 of the ten least effective ads last year that featured celebrities were Groupon’s ad featuring Timothy Hutton, Lipton’s ad featuring rapper Eminem, GoDaddy.com’s ad featuring Joan Rivers, SalesForce.com’s ad starring Will.I.Am and Stella Artois’ commercial featuring Adrian Brody.

Animals can be an advertisers best friend. Ads with animals did substantially better than ads with celebrities, performing 21% better. Also Animal ads did 14% better than those ads not featuring animals.

Automotive brands such as Chevy, Ford and Dodge are typically one of the most effective advertisers. Last year, Volkswagen’s “The Force” ad was the top automotive ad being 10% more effective than the average ad. It also took the the 8th most effective ad of the game. The major theme of last year’s game was “Made In America” half of the top ten ads featured companies such as dodge, ford and chevy.

Internet brands, statistically, have never faired well. There were no dot.com ads in the AceMatrix.com top 10 Super Bowl ads last year. Half of the top 10 least effective Super Bowl ads featured dot.com names.

Garrett has a special suit that allows him to breath underwater. On the suit lies a special pouch that can be filled with oxygen, once underwater he can then breathe that oxygen through a built in straw. McNamara tells a source that he is currently looking to break his current behemoth of a record with an even better suit; he says he’s hunting for a 120-footer in Portugal.
