After yesterday’s shocking news that Android users are more apt to take their phones into the bathroom, it appears that the depravity and debauchery just never ends for those crazy Android kooks.

A survey carried out by dating site Match.com has revealed that if you’re looking to find an easy score, make sure your date’s carrying an Android OS device.

The study breaks the dating crowd into categories based on their types of phones – Android, iPhone, and BlackBerry. Each subset seems to have their own proclivities.

First the Android users. If you’re looking to hook up and leave it at that, Android users are your best bet. 62% of Droiders say that they have gone all the way after just one date. Only 57% of iPhone users and 48% of Blackberry users admitted to that. Moreover, Android users are more likely to either not call you or ignore your call the next day – 55% said that they’ve had a one night stand.

iPhone users apparently like to keep their conquests close. Almost 25% of iPhone users reported having an office fling in the last five years. iPhone users are also the most anxious (read desperate) to make contact after a date – they only averaged a one-day wait to contact the other person after a first date. Both Android and BlackBerry users waited 2-3 days.

Finally, BlackBerry users are going to booze it up. 72% say they will drink alcohol on their first date, a figure which leads the pack. In a possibly relevant stat, BlackBerry users were also the most likely to say they’ve fallen in love at first sight. It makes one think, however: If BlackBerry users are the drunkest, you’d think that their one night stand totals would be the highest. Maybe one stat that wasn’t reported was that BlackBerry users have the tendency to lie about their sexual exploits.

As far as Android users being the sluts of the smartphone world, Digital Life points out that an older survey conducted by OKCupid actually pegged iPhone users as having the most sexual partners by age 30 (11). Android users only averaged 6 partners.

Junk science? Probably. But I bet that you’ll have this in mind when you notice what kind of phone your blind date is fiddling with across the table.

Earlier this week, we told you about a somewhat creepy yet undeniably intriguing concept that was sure to take forever alone to a whole new level.

A concept design called the FLESHLiPad Holder generated a lot of buzz around the interwebs, unsurprisingly, considering it’s an iPad case that mounts a Fleshlight to the bottom of your device. Fleshlights, or faux-vagina flashlights, are quite the popular item, as are iPads, porn, and sex, naturally.

Because of this, we speculated that it was only a matter of time until this little concept became a reality.

It turns out, that’s happening sooner than we thought. Gizmodo obtained the following quote from Fleshlight COO Brian Shubin:

It’s another exciting product we have in development at the moment. We are always looking to improve our user experience and this will be a way to take it to another level. Continue watching Fleshlight.com for it.

Another level indeed. Soon, denizens of the internet, you will have the option to have sex with your tablets, if you so choose. And not just any sex, but sex brought to you by the AVN 2012 winner for “Best Sex Toy Company.”

There’s an app to tell you what direction you’re facing. There’s an app to tell you what to eat. There’s an app to track your calorie consumption. There’s an app to refill your drug prescription.

Now, behold: there’s an app that lets you map out all your sordid sexploits.

I Just Made Love, developed by SharQ, employs your iPhone or Android smartphone’s GPS function so you can create a map index of all of your sexcapades. Really. But brace yourself because this is more than just a tool for sexual cartography because, for better or worse, IJML lets you include all the gory details of your trysts.

IJML allows users to select from a variety of positions they may have enjoyed while fornicating as well as the option to specify what type of environment in which the encounter occurred. Just had a session of missionary that rocked the boat? You can share that info.

At this point, you may be asking why memory isn’t sufficient enough to document these exciting events? Why would anyone need to use icons of geometry people doing, among other things, the horizontal mambo on the couch?

I’m so glad you ask because this is the best/worst part.

Honestly, I don’t even really know how to break this to anyone gently, so I’m just going to throw this on you directly: if you subscribe to the belief that “good fences make good neighbors” then you’re gonna hate this part because the most scandalous feature of IJML is that you can view a map to see who else around you is sharing their sexy good times via IJML, what kind of sex they were having, and any other drippy comments they’ve decided to include with their post. If you’re morbidly curious enough to see what your neighbors in the community are up to when they’re between the sheets (or elsewhere), be warned: the comments are pretty bawdy and you’ll probably need to spend a few minutes in an autoclave when you’re done.

Are you sorry you asked yet? No. Good. Here’s what you’ll learn if you click on one of those markers created by your adventurous neighbor:

So the next time you accept that invite from your neighbor to attend the annual Memorial Day barbecue, just try to refrain from suspiciously eying the other attendants while considering which of them seems most likely to be the type of exhibitionist that would use IJML.

If you’re not at work right now or if you’re lucky enough to work for an open-minded employer, I cannot recommend enough a visit to IJML’s statistics page on their website if for nothing else than to take a gander at the completely hilarious icons depicting geometry people in various states of sexual congress.

At the risk of ruining the happy ending of this article, I will say that a lot of the markers on the map appear to be old so the people that shared their sexy results might not even be your neighbors anymore. So sleep a little better with that knowledge, I guess.

If you had your choice, would you get up and turn the television channel manually or would you give up sex? The answers, at least 36% of them, might surprise you.

Thanks to a just-in-time-for-Valentine’s-Day survey conducted by Logitech, they discovered 36 percent of Americans would rather give up having sex instead of their remote control. It’s been said that those who wield the remote control, wield the power of the household, but at what cost?

If you’d rather go without physical love-making because your remote is so precious to you, perhaps a couple of trips your neighborhood therapist is in order.

While the study hasn’t been posted — in fact, the Logitech blog links to a press release from November of 2010 — ZDNet has some of the depressing details:

The peripherals company has strategically leaked a few results from the report, Global Remote Control Trends Study, in the run-up to Valentine’s Day, including the finding that more than a third of Americans (36 percent, to be exact) would rather forgo sex for a month than give up their remotes. Even a fifth of French respondents answered similarly, ready to pour cold water on l’amour.

It gets worse. Twenty-seven percent of respondents would prefer to stop using their toothbrushes for a month than lose access to the remote control.

Yuck mouth over the power of the remote control? Perhaps a trip to the therapist isn’t enough, Perhaps some electro-shock therapy is in order. Granted, I, too, love my remote control, but certainly not to the extent where I’d sacrifice healthy dentifrice and a healthy sexual relationship to be in charge of it.

Granted, 64 percent of those surveyed come across as sane, got-my-priorities-right type of respondents. The other 36 percent? Not so much. Don’t get me wrong, I love Sons of Anarchy as much as the next SoA fan, but I’ll be damned if I let it get in the way of some well-earned quality time.

On the bright side, if you’re one of the unlucky ones who has a significant other who meets the “would not give up the remote for sex” criteria, I guess you know what to get them for Valentine’s Day now.

Update 2: Microsoft further addressed the issue, as explained in a recent blog post. Bing General Manager Mike Nichols says:

First, potentially explicit images and video content will now be coming from a separate single domain, explicit.bing.net. This is invisible to the end customer, but allows for filtering of that content by domain which makes it much easier for customers at all levels to block this content regardless of what the SafeSearch settings might be. This makes it much easier for filtering software to block unwanted content if SafeSearch has been turned off.

In addition, we will begin returning source url information in the query string for images and video content so that companies who already use this method of filtering will be able to catch explicit content on Bing along with everything else they are already blocking for their customers.

Update: Microsoft Bing General Manager Mike Nichols has addressed the situation in a blog post. He says:

So for right now, we wanted to let people know that you can add “adlt=strict” to the end of a query and no matter what the settings are for that session, it will return results as if safe search was set to strict. The query would look like this: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=adulttermgoeshere&adlt=strict (yes it is case sensitive).

This short term work-around should work with lots of popular firewall and safety products, as well as for larger, managed network environments.

The problem as mentioned in the original article is that the safesearch won’t return any results on a query like "sex." He does say however that they will be working on the issue further in the next couple months.

Original Aritcle: It’s no surprise that as soon as Bing is unleashed, people immediately flock to the porn. A number of reports have pointed out how easy it is to watch porn with Bing thanks to video search feature allowing you to play videos right from the SERP.

Admittedly, the video search feature is one of Bing’s strong points, aside from possible relevancy issues discussed here. The preview option is kind of cool from the user’s perspective.

From the employers’ or the parents’ perspective, it might not be so cool. As "Dinghus" mentions in a WebProWorld thread, "Notice you can ‘preview’ porn right there on the site without any age restrictions? This will probably get all the corporate firewalls blocking Bing."

"I noticed the same and came to the same conclusion," says williamc in the same thread. "Just a matter of time on the lawsuits and blocks."

If you search for something like "sex," (WARNING: LINK CONTAINS ADULT CONTENT…OBVIOUSLY), Bing at least gives a disclaimer, saying you need to turn off safe search. Well, apparently there aren’t any videos regarding sex that can be viewed without digging right into the porn, because there are no visible results with safe search turned on (not even moderate).

If you opt to turn off safe search, you are greeted with yet another disclaimer:

From there, you’re free to watch as much smut as your heart desires without even leaving the page. Interestingly enough, the first result in a query for "sex" is a CNN video about the same-sex marriage battle. Apparently you can’t view this video on Bing without also gaining access to a "drunk sex orgy party."

If the screenshot had been expanded, you’d see a lot more graphic stuff.

But as I’ve said the last several times I’ve written about Bing, the search engine isn’t even supposed to be launched yet. Maybe they’ll get it all worked out in time for the Official June 3rd release. They’ve got a few hours before that.

It’s kind of a chicken and egg question: Does cybersex contribute to increased depression or does depression contribute to increased cybersex? It could be both. A recent Australian study found a correlation between online sexual activity and clinical depression.

Authored by Swinburne University of Technology doctoral student Marcus Squirrell, the study’s conclusions were based on a survey of over 1,300 Australian and American men frequenting online porn, sex, fetish, swing, and webcam sites. Squirrell says his team found that more than 27 percent of the study participants were moderately to severely depressed.

The more often participants engaged in sexual activity online the higher their level of depression and anxiety were. Thirty percent had high levels of anxiety and 35 percent were moderately to severely stressed.

"But there’s also a chance that depressed people are spending time on these sites to help lift their mood or reduce stress,” said Squirrell.

Certainly, correlation doesn’t always (if ever) imply causation, and the jury is still out as to whether sad men are more likely to seek sexual gratification, or if lack of actual physical contact produces temporary euphoria followed by depression because of amplified absence.

TechRadar reports “BitchBuzz” founder and self-described sex expert Cate Sevilla (public LinkedIn profile doesn’t indicate academic background, though) rejects the implications of the study. “I think that there are a lot of men out there that look at and watch porn online that are perfectly healthy – it’s just a part of their sexuality,” she said, though the study didn’t seem to refute that assessment to begin with. Sevilla suggests obsession among some is the real problem.

Another recent study suggested cybersex, on a stress-relief level, or even masturbation, were no substitutes for good old fashioned coitus—those magic endorphins just aren’t released by simulation. It’s likely necessary for survival that reproductive sex is more rewarding emotionally.

Something else simulated or cybersex lacks, which deserves more study as to the effect on depression and anxiety, is the release of oxytocin, a hormone released during labor, but also is generated by physical touch as a bonding chemical between mothers and infants during breastfeeding, and also between lovers.

Freudian psychoanalysts could have a field-day with those implications—lack of intimacy driving mama’s boys online in pursuit of unfulfilling digital relationships—but let’s not mine the depths of the spooky subconscious today, thank you. But it’s at least plausible that the bonding experience induced by real sex is not accessible in cyberspace—hence all the depression.

Sometimes you have to be careful not to too broadly apply the results of a study. In this case, I’m not sure if I can help it. Just call me out (as you often do) in the comments if you think I’ve done so. Two recent studies showed a strong correlation between sex hormones and monetary risks.

And that kind of explains everything. Like…

Why do financial bubbles happen? Why does sex sell? Why do men, especially men in power, seem to make bone-headed sex decisions? Why do some men walk into a strip club with rent money and walk outside without? Why do attractive young saleswomen seem to be preferred by pharmaceutical companies? Why is Vegas so successful? Why will Internet users risk viruses and phishing scams to see (yet another) titillating image via questionable links?

Testosterone, it turns out, makes you a bit of a doofus sometimes. It’s all just part of being a chimp*.

In a Stanford study, men exposed to an erotic image were more likely afterward to take a big gamble. When given $10 and the choice to bet a dollar or a dime, men made the larger gamble more often when exposed to eroticism than when exposed to snakes, spiders, or various office supplies.

Meanwhile, across the Pond at Cambridge, researchers found that higher levels of testosterone among day traders were linked to bigger financial gambles on the trading floor. Even more telling, the act of winning after a gamble increases testosterone, which makes men more likely to continue gambling at higher and higher stakes. This is called "the winner effect."

Thus, bubbles get bigger and bigger until they bust. Thus, every crazy risk you’ve ever seen a man take (Spitzer, anyone?) may be due to that dastardly, daring hormone.

*Whether or not you ascribe to the DNA scientists’ assertion that humans are 98% chimpanzee is up to you. But it does help me to explain LOTS of things about human behavior, and in this case, the role of testosterone in putting on grand displays to impress the ladies. Just watch any teenage boy around a gaggle of girls and try not to think of a male ape beating his chest.

A simple formula pays off at the Valleywag corner of the Gawker Media empire: take a mostly male audience in a notoriously sexually frustrated profession, add a dirty-talking scribe, and watch the page views roll on in.

We have to imagine one-time solo Wagger Nick Douglas, now a special correspondent for Valleywag, must have done a loud facepalm when Melissa Gira Grant signed on to Nick Denton’s Silicon Valley blog and started dishing out R-rated pictures and sex talk.

To think, Douglas’ posts about Eric Schmidt’s personal life were controversial once. Probably still are, but Grant’s relatively anonymous ladies discussed in her post probably aren’t multi-billionaires who could be Denton to painful inconvenience.

Grant’s approach has repeatedly achieved the blogging Holy Grail – page views. “I’m a sex worker, a mistress-for-hire, a whore,” Grant said by way of her introductory post on Valleywag. Now, when you see a young lady wearing little more than a smile on a Valleywag post, it’s a given Grant is on the byline.

As long as she’s racking up thousands of page views, probably to the dismay of writers (ok, maybe not, see comment below) like Paul Boutin, who agreed with our Jason Lee Miller that Valleywag might be thought of as something of a porno site now.

Lighten up, boys. With as many people tuning in to Grant, it’s obvious the Valley isn’t missing the next great startup, not when there’s a woman who will talk frankly, honestly, and above all, dirty to them. The real shocker (ha ha) will be when sites like InfoWorld and Information Week start hiring Grant-clones for their sites.

Don’t let those stiffs from HR tell you office romances are bad for business. No, you just point them right to this Sun article that says as long as you’re not sued for harassment (I’m talking to you, creepy, who’s going to follow this advice right into a cardboard box and a security escort), sex with coworkers actually results in raised energy levels, better professional capacity, and higher productivity.

What, exactly, it produces the article doesn’t say, but I’m going to fall back on my undergrad and say the usual love-drugs: dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin (which are the body’s natural supply of cocaine, prozac, and addiction), along with some other things I shouldn’t mention because they’re gross.

The Sun article cites a study by "Italian sexologist" Serenella Salomoni, who found that 20% of poll respondents admitted to an affair at work, and that they were "happier, more energetic, and more productive."

Except for men, who often fell asleep on the job afterward. Just kidding. That’s not what she said.

The Italian sexologist actually said that women were nearly twice as likely to have an office fling as men were, and a third admitted to having an affair to advance their career.

I have a few questions that aren’t addressed in the Sun’s post.

An Italian sexologist? First, how does one earn the title of "sexologist?" Second, doesn’t that sound like part of a bad pickup line from a Rocky-wannabe: "Hey yo, Shirley, what ya doin for the next 10 minutes or somethin’ like dat?"

Where can I find this study? Sun doesn’t link to it, and has been duped before. Google News brings back the Sun article, and a Washington Post blog that bit, hook-line-and-sinker, and linked back to the Sun article, the only place the info appears to be.

How do I know Serenella Salomoni is a professional sexologist, or which sexology organization she’s with? Google Scholar brought back some results for Salomoni, which were in Italian, which I can’t read, unless I pretend it’s a blend of French and Spanish and use them to decipher, which never works so well.

Were these European or American women having all that sex at the office? That’s important because I know a few guys that will be applying across the Pond tout d’suite.

Is this going to affect our team-building activities? Because the three-legged race is already more intimate than I want to get with some people.
