Chatroulette is Down, and is About to Relaunch

Chatroulette is currently not available. The Chatroulette that we’ve all known has apparently just been an "experiment". It will be back today, however, if a message on the site is any indication.

If you go to the site, it says, "The experiment #1 is over now. Thanks for participating. Renewed and updated version of the website will be launched today."

Will a Redesign Provide MySpace With a Fresh Spark?

MySpace has a new design for the user home page, which is available today on an opt-in basis, but should be rolled out completely by August 19th.

MySpace tells WebProNews, "The new user homepage prominently displays the activity stream and simplifies the content discovery experience.  As users log-in to MySpace, there is a prompt to opt-in for an early look at the new homepage."

Google Makes Some Adjustments to Gmail

Google has made some updates to the Gmail experience with a heavy focus on contacts. The company says that out of all of the feedback it gets about Gmail, most of it is about improving the contacts experience.

All Hotmail Users Now Have the New Version

Microsoft announced that it has completed the roll out of its new Hotmail experience. All customers have now been upgraded.

Bing Maps Gets Interface Enhancements

Microsoft has launched an update to the Bing Maps interface today aimed at improving readability and aesthetics.

The new interface uses cool colors, which Bing says creates a more visually appealing backdrop, helping content "pop" on the map, and provides clear differentiation for pushpins, labels, and traffic overlays.

There are new labels with larger fonts for major streets. This eliminates the need for bolding, and less attractive glows while allowing users to quickly find locations in a relevant format, Bing says.

Funny or Die Launches Redesign, New Ad Opportunities

Popular comedy site Funny or Die has launched a new redesign, adding adds new content and features. The site now provides new themed photo galleries, top 10 lists, and special guest blogs. It also gives advertisers a larger presence on the homepage and more in-video opportunities across the site.

Should Google Be Getting More Bing-Like?

This week Google released its new design for Image Search. The new design includes a tiled layout with instant scrolling between pages. This has already drawn some inevitable comparisons to Bing’s image search, which is particularly interesting given Google’s overall more Bing-like user interface launched earlier this year.

Mapquest Continues Improving New Design

Mapquest recently rolled out a complete redesign, but it didn’t stop there. This week, the site made some additional adjustments, such as Full Map View and zoom via mouse scroll.

With Full Map View, users can now collapse the left pane to view a map that’s as wide as the browser window. "This is a great option for those of you that are visual and like to see as much map as possible," says Mapquest’s Ann Koerner.

YouTube Launches New Version of Music Page

YouTube has launched a revamped version of its Music page, following in the footsteps of its shows and movies pages. The new page showcases the most viewed music videos, as well as special promotions, curated playlists, and unsigned talent.

Webmasters Complain About New Google Image Search

Update 2:  Microsoft has decided to give Bing a little bit more prominence on the recently redesigned MSN homepage. Probably not a bad idea, considering MSN.com had nearly 90 million unique visitors in March, according to Compete. Bing had 52 million.

Possible Twitter Redesign Already Impressing

It appears that Twitter may have a significant redesign in the works. It has been discovered that Twitter’s Creative Director, Doug Bowman has posted a partial screenshot.

Bowman’s exact comment on the screenshot is, "Working on what may end up a significant redesign. Not final yet. What we can show without giving away the farm."

Facebook Fixes News Feed, Still Irritates Users

Facebook has responded to a news feed issue that users have been experiencing and bellyaching about. On its Facebook Page, the company posted:

"We’ve heard from many of you who are seeing a delay in your News Feed posts. We’ve fixed this issue and you should see your News Feeds gradually return to normal. Thanks for your feedback."
