At the February PS4 conference, Bungie announced that Destiny would be coming to the PS4 and PS3. Now the developer has announced that it will be bringing the game to Sony’s E3 press conference with a new trailer.

The trailer doesn’t really tell us much about the game, but it does have that cinematic flair that made Halo such a groundbreaking game when it launched on the original Xbox. If the actual game can pull this off, Destiny may just be a keeper.

We still don’t have any gameplay, but Bungie announced in the above trailer that that the gameplay will finally be shown off at Sony’s E3 press conference on June 10. It’s a pretty big win for Sony when you consider that Bungie was owned by Microsoft just a few years ago.

Beyond the Sony presser, expect a lot more Destiny news at E3. Besides Call of Duty Ghosts, this is Activision’s other big game for 2013. There’s a lot of expectation riding on it so Bungie has to get it right, and I have no reason to doubt them yet.

The biggest surprise from the PS4 unveiling was when Jonathan Blow, creator of Braid, announced that his next – The Witness – would be a limited console exclusive on the PS4. Now the famed, and rather outspoken, creator is back talking about indie game development and his relationship with Sony.

As an added bonus, there’s some new footage of The Witness in action as well.

It’s so refreshing to hear a game developer say that he puts his creative vision ahead of profit. Most indies are like that though, and it’s fantastic to see Sony supporting them in such a big way.

Both Sony and Microsoft will be launching their next-gen consoles with a racing game. EA will be joining them with its own racing franchise later this year.

EA announced today that it’s new studio – Ghost Games – is knee-deep in development on the next Need for Speed title. The game – titled Need for Speed: Rivals – will be the first next-gen entry for the series. The game is also coming to current gen systems and the PC. Like other games from EA this year, there was no Wii U version announced.

The above trailer indicates that the footage is all in-game. It’s also revealed that Criterion is helping out with development. With their racing game expertise, Rivals may just be the prettiest, and best playing, racing game this year.

Need for Speed: Rivals will launch on November 19 for all current-gen consoles and PC. It will presumably be a launch title for the PS4 and Xbox One.

The Xbox One and PS4 are still a few months away so a few of the finer details won’t be available just yet. Usually, the box art is one of the final things to be revealed with any new console, but it may have been revealed early.

The official Battlefield Facebook account was updated after the Xbox One unveiling to announce Battlefield 4 for the Xbox One and PS4. The graphic provided with the announcement features what may be the box art design for both consoles:

Of course, the designs could be placeholders for now. If it is legitimate, Sony seems to be keeping a similar box art design from what it has used with the PS3 while Microsoft will be adopting a more minimalistic design with its box art. It’s not a bad thing at all, and the deep green color looks really good.

We’ll probably see final box art design a few months before launch, but third parties, like EA in this instance, will probably leak the final box art design long before Sony or Microsoft does.

Now if only Microsoft, or a third party, would be more forthcoming about its plans for used games on the Xbox One. The official statement is that used games will be playable on the console, but Microsoft is being entirely too vague about the whole thing.

There was only one question on the minds of many after February’s PS4 conference – where was the console itself? Well, those desperate to see what the PS4 actually looks like won’t have to wait much longer.

Sony announced today that it’s E3 2013 press conference will be taking place on June 10 at 6 p.m. PST/9 p.m. EST. To hype people up for the press conference, Sony has also released a short teaser that kind of shows what the new PS4 will look like if you squint really hard:

Of course, we’ll have to wait until June 10 to see what the final PS4 hardware will look like. Well, that is unless somebody decides to leak pictures of the hardware before then. Sony isn’t exactly known for being leak-proof.

In other next-gen news, we’re likely to see the next Xbox hardware tomorrow at its unveiling event. We might even see the next generation of Kinect hardware. Just don’t expect it to be cheap.

It was announced in February that Blizzard was returning to console development. Now some may have been disappointed that the developer was only bringing a port of Diablo III to the console, but it’s still a pretty big deal to have the fastest selling PC game of all time come to a new console.

As such, the guys at Blizzard spoke to Sony about what it’s like to develop for the PS4. In short, they really like the new console. They especially like how the PS4 (and PS3) allows them to bring couch co-op to the Diablo franchise.

I feel that I must point out that Blizzard is super cruel to keep alluding to The Lost Vikings without announcing a new entry in the franchise. We can only hope that Diablo III will be successful enough on consoles to convince Blizzard to begin work on a new entry in its best franchise.

Diablo III will be out on the PS3 later this year, with the PS4 version being out some time after.

Sony is going to announce a new game on May 21. It’s codenamed Panopticon. There’s no word on platforms yet, but it could very well be a PS4 game. Here’s the first trailer that gives us a good look at the game while telling us absolutely nothing about it:

People are already drawing comparisons to Square’s The World Ends With You. That’s probably not the case, however, as this is a Sony Japan Studio game. The studio is already hard at work on Rain and Puppeteer for the PS3 so it will be interesting to see if this is a PS3 or a PS4 launch game. I’m willing to bet on the latter as Sony Japan Studio has typically always had a game out at or near the launch of a new console.

Either way, we’ll find out more on May 21. I’m excited to find out more, and the buzz on the Internet seems to indicate I’m not alone.

One of the stranger announcements at the PS4 event was Sucker Punch’s new inFamous game titled inFamous Second Son. It appears to be set in a dystopian London, not unlike the setting in V For Vendetta, where super powered vigilantes fight against overbearing law enforcement.

Now, we don’t know much about the game yet, but the team at Sucker Punch took a few minutes ouf of their day to talk with Game Informer about PS4 development, and what they like about developing for Sony’s new machine.

Ever since its announcement, we knew that the latest Assassin’s Creed title – Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – would have pirates playing a large role in the narrative. None of the trailers, until now that is, have really played up that fact.

In a new trailer released today, Ubisoft says that its lastest Assassin’s Creed title will present the true stories of the pirates who controlled the Atlantic Ocean in the 18th century. That’s a somewhat dubious claim as past titles in the franchise took great liberties with its historical figures. It’s probably not going to be as true to life as Sid Meier’s Pirates!, but it looks to be a fun romp in a theme that’s underutilized in games.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be out on October 29 for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U. It will also launch on the PS4 and next Xbox on or near their respective launch dates.

Despite having been announced almost a year ago, we haven’t seen much gameplay from Watch Dogs. Ubisoft prefers to trot out the same gameplay footage we’ve been seeing since February whenever they show it off to the press. That all changed this week with a new gameplay demo.

Official PlayStation Magazine was able to sit down with a new gameplay demo that features a gameplay element that we haven’t seen yet. The demo reveals that players will have to take over local bases before they can hack electronic devices in a district.

The above demo is running on a PC, but it’s said to be running on next-gen specs. In other words, the PlayStation 4 and next Xbox version of Watch Dogs should match what you’re seeing above.

Watch Dogs will launch on November 19 for PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. It will also be out on the PS4 and the next Xbox on or near their respective launches.
