The artist/NFL wid receiver previously known as Chad Ochocinco is a wanted man in the County of Broward, which is probably best known for being the area Fort Lauderdale resides in. The news comes thanks to a TMZ.com exclusive, and apparently, the warrant stems from the mess that was his marriage to Evelyn Lozada, and the domestic violence conviction that came with it. Apparently, Johnson failed to appear in front of his probation officer, and the warrant was issued on May 7 of this year.

While Johnson has yet to undergo the process that is due to him, if he is found to be in violation of his sentence, he could find himself behind bars. Of course, we’re still a little ways off from that happening, but the wheels are certainly turning, and the ball is now in the previous Cincinnati Bengal’s court. Speaking of which, his Twitter account gives us a clue as to his current whereabouts:

Chilly in Pasadena

— Chad Johnson (@ochocinco) May 16, 2013

The news of the warrant represents simply another chapter in what has become the meteoric fall of once-really-good NFL wide receiver. Yes, Chad’s mouth wrote much bigger checks than perhaps his ability should have allowed, but he was, for a time, a top-tier NFL wide receiver, something the following video demonstrates (if you’re not a rap fan, you may want to turn the volume down).

Sadly, that seems like a long time ago.

The Minnesota Vikings this week officially revealed that backup quarterback Joe Webb has been moved to a wide receiver position.

Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier confirmed the decision in an interview with the Minneapolis Star Tribune. A move for Webb had been rumored since the Vikings signed free agent quarterback Matt Cassel for the backup position. Frazier stated that the decision was made shortly after this year’s NFL Draft, during which the Vikings drafted wide receiver Cordarelle Patterson in the first round.

Webb was reportedly informed of his new position on the first day of team workouts. He told the Star Tribune that the move will be “very interesting,” as he has not played wide receiver since his rookie minicamp. Webb also played wide receiver during his college sophomore season with the University of Alabama at Birmingham, during which he had 30 receptions and three touchdown catches. Webb stated that he believes his quarterback experience and knowledge will help him and his fellow teammates.

Vikings offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave told the Star Tribune that Webb may be used on special teams and “in other ways.”

It’s hard to fault 43-year-old Brett Favre‘s Career. During his nearly 20 years in the NFL, the former quarterback made the Pro Bowl 11 times and holds NFL records for the most passing touchdowns, most passing yards, most passing completions, and most wins. When Favre left the Green Bay Packers in 2007, however, fans were hurt that their quarterback of 15 years ended up playing for the New York Jets and the Minnesota Vikings.

Now, it appears the Packers organization is attempting to smooth things over with their greatest quarterback. According to a Fox Sports Wisconsin interview with Packers CEO Mark Murphy, the Packers want Favre “back in the family.” Murphy cited Favre’s appearance with current Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers at a recent NFL Honors show as a “first step” in bringing Favre “back into the fold.”

Rodgers has also made similar statements on an ESPN radio show, revealing that he spoke with Favre and carefully helped organized the two’s handshake during the show. The Packer’s organization is hoping the event will symbolically begin healing the rift between the team and Favre that began in 2007.

“It didn’t take a lot of coaxing for me to do it,” said Rodgers. “I did want to sit and think about whether it was the right thing to do. I really feel very secure in my position with the team and feel good about the things that we’ve been able to accomplish in my five years as the starter, and feel good about the direction the organization is going in.

“Brett is two years removed from the game. He’s going to obviously be in the Packers Hall of Fame. He’ll get his number retired, and he’ll be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the next few years. It’s important, I think, to make sure that he’s recognized for all the accomplishments that he’s achieved in our organization especially. He’s still very dear to many of our fans for the things that he’s done for the Packers on the field. You can never take that away.”

Chuck Muncie, a former running back for the NFL, has died of a heart attack. He was 60 years old.

Muncie got his start in the mid-’70s as the third-overall pick for the Saints; he stayed with them for four years, but was ultimately unhappy with the team and moved on to the Chargers in 1980. His career seemed promising as he helped lead the Chargers’ game with 19 touchdowns in 1981. But just three years later, he tested positive for cocaine and was suspended.

Muncie eventually sought counseling for his drug abuse and began helping others, saying, “I’m a very selfish person, and I like to feel good. One way I could make myself feel good was by helping other people. I learned, over a period of time, that was something that worked for me.”

He tried to make a career comeback with the Vikings in 1985, but as it turned out, the drugs played a bigger role in his life than he’d let on. In 1989, he was arrested for selling cocaine. He eventually turned things around, however, and began working with convicts and drug addicts to help them change for the better. One of his biggest projects was helping to provide ex-prisoners with tattoo removals in order to help them secure jobs on the outside.

His friends and teammates remember him as a man who would drop what he was doing to help others, and a former team doctor once said he did what he did because he genuinely wanted to make a difference.

“Whenever we call, he makes himself available,” Bill Coysh said. “That’s what’s incredible about him. This is not a paid position. He does it because that’s how he is.”

Tim Tebow is a man without a country these days; after a season with the Jets which can only be described as disappointing, the young QB was cut in favor of Mark Sanchez, and there are rumors floating around that several teams don’t want him because of the media baggage that will inevitably follow. But one team has made an offer, and if he takes it, it’ll mean no NFL training camp this season.

The Philadelphia Soul says they want to see him on the gridiron and have reportedly sent him an offer, including a list of plays they would use with him. Tebow has yet to respond, but co-owner Ron Jaworski and Coach Clint Dolezel say they’re hoping they’ll get a chance.

“I haven’t heard back from him and I’m not going to push it,” Jaworksi said. “If he decides he wants to play Arena Football, we’ll make a spot for him.”

Jaworski thinks Arena Football could be just the thing Tebow needs to strengthen his game and says it would force him to really look at his weaknesses.

“One [criticism] of Tebow is that he is slow and methodical,” Jaworski said. “He would be forced to quicken it up in this league and it would be good training for him. You can learn a lot in this league. It’s about processing information and getting the ball out . . . or you get whacked.”

With the impatient wait for the return of the NFL entering its “Dog Days” stage–especially now that the draft has come and gone–the NFL-ravenous public circles like hungry sharks waiting for the next tidbit of news about their favorite team or player. One such team that’s well known in relation to moving the dial is the Philadelphia Eagles. Granted, much of the attention focuses on the fact that Michael Vick plays quarterback for the franchise, thanks in large part to his well documented past. Add in a new head coach like Chip Kelly, previously of the multi-uniformed Oregon Ducks, to the mix, and what you have is a nice recipe for catching the public’s eye.

And so, whenever news of Vick racing one of his teammates hits the modern media circuit, it’s going to get traction. This is helped by the fact that Michael Vick was known to have otherworldly-like speed. Because of the beating Vick has been taking, however, thanks to getting absolutely buried by various defenses in recent seasons, there were looming doubts about whether or not Vick possessed his impressive physical gifts. This belief is, apparently, what led Eagles running back LeSean McCoy to challenge his quarterback to a 40-yard dash footrace. While the race itself apparently happened almost two weeks ago–Vick won–the topic is still up for discussion, at least to the player who crossed the finish line after Vick.

As the various local Philadelphia sports writers follow the Eagles during the off-season workouts, McCoy was asked about the race, to which he replied, “he jumped off. He started early.” Considering the all-access era of news we live in, there is, of course, video of McCoy’s response, courtesy of CSNPhilly.com.

Your browser does not support iframes.

While the story here is indeed frivolous and fluffy, the fact that it has become a talking point only further indicates the incredible popularity of NFL. With all due respect to Allen Iverson, we’re not even talking about practice here. We’re talking about a footrace. Furthermore, the story is getting some traction as well. With that in mind, it’s not hard to imagine Roger Goodell sitting behind his desk made of money, laughing to himself while his interns tell him such a story is actually a topical subject. The laugh comes from the (daily) confirmation that, yes, the National Football League does, in fact, rule the roost when it comes to capturing the attention of sports fans.

With all of that in mind, while the fact that Vick still has his speed may provide a sense of satisfaction for Eagles fans, if they want him to start more than 10 games next season, they better hope the offensive line protection improves. In those 10 starts during last season, Vick was sacked 28 times, clearly indicating his speed wasn’t enough.

Now, though, RGII (as he’s sometimes known) is about to experience a great milestone in his personal life.

RGIII’s mother, Jackie Griffin, sat down with DC TV news station Fox 5 this week and revealed that Griffin will be getting married this summer. He will be marrying his long-time girlfriend Rebecca Liddicoat, though no specific date was revealed.

The couple are reported to have met while they were still students at Baylor. Griffin proposed in October 2011 after a game against Kansas State.

Griffin was born in Okinawa, Japan and grew up in a military family, moving throughout the U.S. during his childhood. He attended Baylor University, where he racked up 110 touchdowns and over 10,000 passing yards as the Bears’ quarterback. In addition to winning the Heisman, he was the second draft pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and the cover athlete for EA’s NCAA Football 13 video game.

Last month, rapper/producer Jay-Z began selling off his share of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets. The move was part of the artist’s launch of his Roc Nation Sports venture, a new sports representation company. Jay-Z is reportedly looking to becoming a certified sports agent, and an ownership stake in an NBA team would be a conflict of intrest.

Other sports agents have worried that Jay-Z’s name and media experience could lure away big clients, and it appears they were right to worry. A report on NBC Sports this week stated that New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has taken a meeting with Roc Nation, in addition to other agencies.

Citing “a source with knowledge of the situation,” the NBC report states that Smith, who is looking for new representation, met with Joel Segal, Priority Sports, Eugene Parker, Fletcher Smith, and Roc Nation. Jay-Z is not yet a certified sports agent, and was not the Roc Nation representative who gave the company’s presentation to Smith.

Smith has not publicly commented on his agent shopping. Unless, that is, his latest (bizarre) tweet is some sort of code and not simply a mistake:

Planned upgrades for the Miami Dolphins‘ Sun Life stadium have been cancelled following the failure of a bill meant to provide public funds for the venue. According to a report from Miami’s CBS 4, the Florida house adjourned without taking up the bill, which would have raised the state’s hotel bed tax to fund the stadium repairs.

Dolphins CEO Mike Dee appeared on the news station on Sunday, stating that the Dolphins organization and team owner Stephen Ross in particular were not prepared to fund the proposed $350 million in renovations themselves.

“From the get-go we had looked at this as a comprehensive modernization, not a band-aid, not a quick fix,” said Dee. “I wouldn’t want to prognosticate what the future holds, but it’s clearly bleak.”

Dee went on to blame Florida House Speaker Will Weatherford for failing to bring the bill up for a vote. He characterized Sun Life stadium’s state as “desperate” and intimated that, though Ross isn’t interested in moving the Dolphins, a future sale could mean Miami losing its NFL team.

Quarterback Tim Tebow gained notoriety for his skills on the field with the Denver Broncos, as well as for his outspoken Christian beliefs. Now, an injury and decreased playing time with the New York Jets has led to him being without a team.

According to an NFL.com report, casual speculation by an agent on a Miami radio program sparked rumors that Tebow could end up playing for the Miami Dolphins. The flimsy reasoning behind this guess was that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is a fan of the quarterback.

Now, the Tebow/Dolphins rumor seems to have been definitively put to rest. Miami Herald columnist Armando Salguero today tweeted out a quote from an unnamed “high ranking Dolphins source” that states the Tebow rumors are “totally untrue.”

So, there is still no one who knows what’s next for Tebow, though the Arena League and the Lingerie League have both made offers for the quarterback.

Tebow himself has not commented on any of the rumors surrounding his career. His most recent Twitter posts indicate that he is leaving his fate in the hands of his god:
