Unfortunately, though, once such incident on the German vacation island of Sylt came to just such a tragic end. Two as-yet-unidentified men ate in a restaurant owned by 57-year-old Miki Nozawa, a highly-regarded chef known primarily for his particular Japanese-Italian fusion style. For unknown reasons, they were unhappy with the beef and fried noodle dish Nozawa prepared. After a brief confrontation, they left the restaurant without paying.

Ordinarily, that would be the end of such a story – frustrating for all parties, but neither tragic nor newsworthy. Unfortunately, however, it seems that Nozawa encountered the two men later that evening in a bar. The men exchanged words, and then blows. Nozawa suffered at least one blow to the head and was rushed to the hospital, where he died of trauma to the brain and internal bleeding.

Nozawa was, according to his ex-wife, good-natured man who would not have started a fight with the two men. She said that the men asked for a refund on their meal and believes that the attack was racially motivated.

No charges have been filed against the two men, as authorities on the island are still investigating the incident.

According to an Associated Press report, the boy has been charged with the homicide of his younger sister. He had originally told police that he found Leila and saw an intruder fleeing from his house. The kids’ parents were reportedly at a little league game at the time of the murder.

The boy’s description of the alleged intruder kicked off a manhunt in the small Northern California community. Police found no signs of a robbery at the Fowler house, and a door-to-door search turned up no leads. Their questioning of sex offenders and parolees in the area were similarly unfruitful.

Lelia’s brother was arrested on the evening of Saturday, May 11. A candlelight vigil was held last week at the elementary school that Leila attended.

Miller, 45, of Shingletown, California, is suspected of murdering his wife and two daughters. The bodies of Sandy (age 34), Shelby (age 8), and Shasta (age 5) were found at 7:45 pm Tuesday. The three were shot multiple times.

Miller, who grew up in Humbolt County and knows the wooded region quite well, appears to have made the 200-mile drive from Shingletown to Petrolia, where his truck was found, sometime after the shooting.

Law enforcement officials have begun searching the region in a strategic manner for Miller, whom they regard as armed and extremely dangerous. Officials say that hiding in the rugged terrain – where parts of Jurassic Park were filmed – could be all too easy. They believe that Miller could be making for a cabin, or could simply be hiding out in the bush somewhere.

This is not Miller’s first run-in with law enforcement, though it is his most severe. In 1996 he was convicted of felony marijuana cultivation. In 2002 he was caught growing marijuana again and served three years and ten months in prison for cultivation, and for possession of a firearm by a felon.

The bodies – two adult men and one woman – were found on a farm west of Ottawa. Two people – Kortni McGill and Corey Schlotzhauer – originally checked out the property after they had lost contact with a friend. They found a foul odor emanating from the property at the time, and called the police to investigate. An initial sweep of the area found nothing, but McGill found one of the bodies under a tarp the next day.

Besides the three bodies, investigators also found a burn barrel with baby items and clothing. Some think that the discovery may indicate that the woman found was a Kansas City mother that went missing with her 18-month-old baby last week. Tests are still ongoing, but it could explain the existence of the baby items if the tests come back positive.

The investigation has now pulled in over 40 detectives from across the state as they attempt to find answers to a very bizarre murder case.

The 12-year old girls can be heard talking about being assassins and threatening several people after one of them read a note aloud at school that contained a “hit list” of sorts. Though they’re laughing most of the time in the video, it’s a haunting depiction of youth to the parents of those who were named.

“My daughter, she woke up about four times last night, to lock the doors. She woke up with nightmares,” said parent Angelica Marrero.

The video has been taken down off YouTube and the girls have been pulled from school as police perform an investigation, but they say they don’t believe there was ever any real threat to students or faculty. However, charges might be brought against them, and most parents believe that would be a good thing.

Jonathan Broyhill, who was best man in the couple’s wedding in 2009, attacked Nation Hahn and Jamie Kirk Hahn in their home on Monday night before turning the knife on himself. He was treated for his wounds and now faces serious charges, and police are investigating a possible motive.

Broyhill worked with Jamie Hahn at her company, Sky Blue Strategies, which dealt with high-profile Democratic candidates. Investigators say they’ve found large discrepancies in the amounts of funds paid out to donors in the form of refunds; $8,250 was given by those donors in 2012 but a document shows they allegedly received $15,900 in return. Whether that money ever made it back to them is under investigation.

“Some of the things that Jonathan said about the campaign finances were inconsistent with other information,” former Democratic Rep. Brad Miller said. “It’s probably the case that Jamie was asking questions on behalf of the campaign about campaign finances. I think it’s bound to be part of the investigation of Jon’s motive.”

Jamie’s family released a statement regarding her death:

“It is our fervent hope that an even larger community will be inspired now by the way she lived her life,” the family said. “She dedicated her life and her work to the ideal that we were put on this earth to care for those who need an extra measure of care. She believed in justice, opportunity and fairness for all. She loved politics and she saw the Democratic Party as the path to realize her ideals. She had a gift for bringing us together – black and white, young and old, gay and straight. She challenged us to work together for a better world. Her light will shine on in all of us who knew and loved her.”

According to a report from Phoenix CBS station CBS 5, 62-year-old Eugene ‘Gino’ Maraventano used a 14-inch kitchen knife to stab his wife while she slept. He then knocked on his son’s bedroom door and sliced his son’s throat when he answered the door. He called 911 four days after murdering his family and admitted to the crime.

Maraventano told police that he had been planning to kill his wife and then commit suicide. He stated that he tried slicing his wrists and taping a plastic bag around his head, but failed in his suicide attempts.

Maraventano’s wife, Janet, had been sick and tests for cancer had recently come back negative. The man told police he was afraid that he had given his wife a sexually transmitted infection, such as HIV, through his contact with prostitutes.

As for murdering his son, Maraventano told police that he didn’t think his son, who was unemployed, could get by on his own.

According to a report in The Telegraph, the men, Junior Bradshaw and Kevin Liverpool, have been convicted on conspiracy to to cause grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to rob. Liverpool has been sentenced to life in prison, and will serve a minimum of 10 years and eight months. Bradshaw’s sentencing was postponed.

According to the Telegraph report, the pair were found near the singer’s home with a “samurai sword” and knives. At one point the criminals asked a mailman for directions to Stone’s house. The amateur criminals were reported to have had notes outlining a plot to behead Stone and dump her body in a river.

The motive for the men’s plot isn’t entirely clear, though notes written by the men contained references to the British Royal family. The writings referred to the fact that Stone had been invited to the Prince William’s wedding in 2011. The men also mentioned Eminem, Beyonce, R. Kelly and Chris Brown.

Stone’s mother addressed the media after the convictions, thanking supporters on her daughter’s behalf and expressing relief that the men are behind bars.

Local news station WTAJ is reporting that 51-year-old Mark Miscavish shot and killed his wife, Traci Miscavish at the Country Market store where she worked. Mark had retired from the Pennsylvania State Police in recent years.

Mark was reported to have entered the front doors of the store, walked upstairs to where Traci worked, and shot her twice with a shotgun. He then shot himself. Both were found dead when first responders arrived.

The two had reportedly been separated since January. According to a Reuters report, Traci had filed for divorce in the past week. Mark had reportedly been arrested in January for attempting to capture his wife with duct tape and threatening to kill her with a handgun. Traci was awarded a protection-from-abuse order following the incident.

Police are still investigating the murder, making sure that Mark acted alone in the murder-suicide.

The Associated Press is reporting that golfers at the Hilaman Golf Course in Tallahassee, Florida heard gunshots on Tuesday afternoon, around 5 pm. The golfers (bravely, I suppose) went to check out the source of the shots and found the bodies of two women.

According to a Leon County Sheriff spokesperson, the bodies were found in an area between the golf course and a nearby apartment complex. The names, ages, or descriptions of the victims have not been released, and law enforcement has begun canvassing the area for possible witnesses.
