Facebook has introduced new privacy settings aimed at making it easier for users to have more control over their personal information and what they share.

A new control now makes it easy to share on Facebook with friends, and friends of friends or everyone in one click. The settings are immediately applied and displayed in a grid. Users will be able to customize their settings to control their level of sharing. The settings will now appear on a single page.

So, earlier in the week, we talked about how absorbed the web is going to get by Facebook. Based on Facebook’s announcements at F8 today, that is most certainly the goal of the company, and given the tremendous adoption of Facebook by users in general, and by important partners with content, get ready to get more absorbed.

Mark Zuckerberg and I aren’t Facebook friends. That’s cool; I don’t know him. Until recently, all I could see of his profile was his picture, networks and friend list. But this morning, either the Facebook CEO had decided that’s what’s good for the goose is good for the gander, or even he didn’t know what the new privacy settings changed.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced last night that the social network now has over 350 million users around the world. The number indicates continued strong growth, because just in September, Facebook announced that it has surpassed 300 million. In early November, it was reported that Facebook had reached at least 325 million.

On September 15th, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook "now serves 300 million people across the world."  It seems the site’s growth hadn’t exactly come to a stop, either, as about a month and a half later, stats indicate the number of users has risen to at least 325 million.

We’ll leave it to you whether or not Facebook’s founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, deserves the label "visionary."  But in a recent interview, 25-year-old Zuckerberg revealed that he is indeed considering what’ll happen a long ways down the road.

It was just mere months ago that Facebook announced they had 200 million members worldwide. Well, today they’ve passed another milestone… 250 million people are now using the social networking site.

It should be noted that back in January Facebook only had 150 million users… feels kind of funny saying only 150 million.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg spoke at the Reuters Global Technology Summit on Tuesday, and declined to confirm recent reports that the company had held discussions regarding $150 million in funding (as reported by VentureBeat) and turned down $200 million (as reported by TechCrunch).

Facebook celebrated its 5th birthday in early February and at the time it had more than 150 million users globally.

Now the social networking site has reached a new milestone and has announced it has  200 million members worldwide.

There are just over 300 fewer billionaires in the world this year, and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg is one of them. According to Forbes’ latest Masters of the Universe list (my name for it, not Forbes), Zuckerberg’s net worth plummeted by $600 million last year due to Facebook’s inability to make money.

In a conference call with reporters this afternoon, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced new “foundational policies” applied to users, developers, and advertisers that will give them more say in how things are done on Facebook.

The World Economic Forum announced selections for its Young Global Leaders. This group consists of business, government, academia, media, non-profit organizations and arts leaders from different regions around the world. Among the selections were a number of Silicon Valley leaders including Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, Chad Hurley of YouTube, and Kevin Rose of Digg (not to mention non-techies like Tiger Woods and Jessica Biel).

Yielding to pressure from it seems like just about everyone, Facebook is saying that it will make changes to the recent changes in its Terms of Service (TOS) (in other words going back to how it was). The WSJ covers the ‘event’ in their online edition.

Facebook is celebrating its 5th birthday today and the social networking site now boasts more than 150 million users globally.

In a blog post, founder Mark Zuckerberg reflects on the last five years. "Facebook was founded in 2004 to give people the tools to engage and understand the world around them. We are glad and humbled that so many people are using Facebook in this way."

Well, that didn’t take long.  On August 26th, Mark Zuckerberg made a post on the Facebook Blog noting that his social network had attracted 100 million users.  Now the CEO’s back, saying that Facebook has hit the 150 million-user mark.

It’s hard to think of a more striking way in which "old school" could meet new.  Donald E. Graham, chairman of the board and CEO of The Washington Post Company, will join Facebook’s board of directors next month.

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly considering entering into the digital music business and becoming a streaming competitor to iTunes and MySpace.

Zuckerberg is in talks with several song streaming services and music community sites including Rhapsody.com, iMeem.com, iLike.com, and Lala.com, sources familiar with the situation said, according to the New York Post.

Facebook is introducing a new design and is allowing users to preview the new features and functionality.

The company is inviting members to use the new design and try out the new features by navigating between the new and current versions of the site. Facebook says access to the new design will be limited initially and gradually become available to all of its users in the coming days.
