MapQuest has launched a new, Adobe ActionScript API that will allow developers to use a robust toolset with the benefits of ActionScript 3.0.

Don’t like to get lost? MapQuest has announced upgrades to its "Send to Cell’ service that will allows users to create driving directions and maps at their PC and send them to any Web-enabled cell phone.

Online driving direction and map finder MapQuest has added tools to help people find per-gallon prices that do the least damage to one’s bank account.

Good news from Mapquest about their latest challenge to developers… the MapQuest OpenAPI Developers Challenge eligibility has been extended to Canada (excluding Quebec).

AOL’s MapQuest announced this week the beta release of mapping and routing technology available for free to Web developers. Called MapQuest OpenAPI, interested developers can win $1000 for their creative mapping efforts and a trip to the Where 2.0 Conference in San Jose.

In yet another humorous article about Google’s poor maps – actually guys, the data provided to Google, mapquest, MSN, and others are licensed from data providers like Navteq and Tele Atlas.

Bill Gates announced the launch of MSN’s Virtual Earth mapping tool yesterday in a continuing effort to expand its MSN product line as part of the ongoing battle with Yahoo and Google to capture the search engine services market.
