<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A peek at one of Google&#8217;s datacenters reveals a look at Google Health, and if you try it with Internet Explorer 7 beta 2, Google suggests changing your search engine choice too.</p>
<p>The search for migraine information wasn&#8217;t a headache for ZDNet blogger Garett Rogers. He <a href=http://blogs.zdnet.com/Google/?p=183 class=bluelink>uncovered</a> what a lot of outlets have been talking about for a few weeks, namely the unveiling of Google Health.</p>
<p>By querying http://64.233.167.99, Rogers noted additional results for a search for migraines appearing on Google&#8217;s page, below Google&#8217;s sponsored links box:</p>
<p><i>
<div style=margin-left:10px; margin-right:10px;>The results page gives users the option to narrow down or filter to produce desired results. For example, I searched for migraine and it let me choose from various options including: treatment, research papers, symptoms, news and alternative medicine. Clicking on &#8220;From medical establishment&#8221; gives even more options.</div>
<p></i><br />
We were not able to duplicate Rogers&#8217; results in testing, so Google is probably rolling this out in a limited fashion. However, we did see something new in IE 7 beta 2 when navigating to the Google IP address listed in the article.</p>
<p>When we downloaded Microsoft&#8217;s latest browse version, we noticed it had Google, not MSN Search, as its default. Evidently Google&#8217;s <a href=http://www.webpronews.com/insiderreports/searchinsider/wpn-49-20060501GoogleComplainsToFedsAboutIE7.html class=bluelink>Marissa Mayer&#8217;s concern over IE</a> and Microsoft&#8217;s possible violation of antitrust practices via its new search box may have been a bit premature. </p>
<p>Google isn&#8217;t taking any chances, though. Taking IE 7 to Google.com brings up a box in the top right corner of the browser, and reads, &#8220;Make Google your search engine in Internet Explorer.&#8221; A red arrow pointing to the box and a big button that reads, &#8220;Make Google my search&#8221; appear in the box.</p>
<p>Clicking the button prompts the user to run two small executable files. Upon agreeing to run both, IE opens a new window with a message from Google, thanking the user for setting Google as the default search. There is also a link to get the <a href=http://pack.google.com class=bluelink>Google Pack</a>, a software collection Google distributes for PC users.</p>
<p>Google&#8217;s IE suggestion mimics what Yahoo does for <a href=http://www.getfirefox.com class=bluelink>Firefox</a> users. The Yahoo main page will display a similar attention-getting box in Firefox, suggesting those users set Yahoo as the default search.</p>
<p>&#8212;</p>
<p>Add to <script language='javascript'> document.write("<a href='http://del.icio.us/post?url="+encodeURIComponent(document.location.href)+"&#038;title="+encodeURIComponent(document.title)+"'>Del.icio.us</a>")</script> | <a href="javascript:void window.open('http://digg.com/submit?phase=2&#038;url='+encodeURIComponent(window.location.href)+'&#038;ei=UTF-8','popup','width=520px,height=420px,status=0,location=0,resizable=1,scrollbars=1,left=100,top=50',0)">DiggThis</a> | <a href="javascript:void window.open('http://myweb2.search.yahoo.com/myresults/bookmarklet?t='+encodeURIComponent(document.title)+'&#038;u='+encodeURIComponent(window.location.href)+'&#038;tag=Google Health,IE 7','popup','width=520px,height=420px,status=0,location=0,resizable=1,scrollbars=1,left=100,top=50',0)">Yahoo! <description><![CDATA[The third beta version of Internet Explorer 7 became available for download as a true beta release instead of just a preview release, or an update to the preview release.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The third beta version of Internet Explorer 7 became available for download as a true beta release instead of just a preview release, or an update to the preview release.</p>
<p>Visitors to the <a href=http://www.microsoft.com/ie class=bluelink>Internet Explorer</a> website may now download IE 7 Beta 2, and experience some of the features like tabbed browsing and RSS feed reading that users of alternatives like Opera and Firefox have enjoyed for quite some time. </p>
<p>Microsoft also promises better security with the IE 7 Beta 2 release. Security badges displayed in the address bar while warning of possible attempts at information theft with its Phishing Filter. It also watches for potential malicious programs attempting to access the PC.</p>
<p>IE 7 could have some significant impact on the world of syndicated content. Since IE has a market share of about 86 percent of the web browsers in use in the world, it&#8217;s likely millions of browsers will eventually upgrade to IE 7. In doing so, many users may wish to discover feed-delivered content, possibly for the first time.</p>
<p>RSS feed adoption on a broad scale by a wide swath of Internet users may drive publishers to adopt or enhance the feeds they publish. With feedreading a strictly opt-in approach to distributing content, businesses should see better conversions from campaigns targeting that audience.</p>
<p>&#8220;We acted on a lot of the feedback and bug reports from the previous public releases,&#8221; Dean Hachamovitch <a href=http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/04/24/582546.aspx class=bluelink>posted</a> in the IE Blog. &#8220;I feel good about changes we made based on reports from web developers around some CSS behaviors, application compatibility feedback, reliability data (yes, we do analyze the information that comes when you click &#8220;Send Error Report&#8221;), and user experience feedback.&#8221;</p>
