Network TV viewers who are still following the Fox show Glee got quite a treat Thursday evening. The only problem is, the consensus is still out on whether it was salty or sweet.

This week’s Glee featured a ‘school shooting’ of sorts. Though no one is injured, two shots ring out through McKinley High. In the aftermath of the shooting, a flashback reveals the shooter’s identity, and shows why a well-loved teacher takes the blame for the incident.

Fans of the episode are calling it a bold step for a network TV show, while critics are trashing the episode as exploitative and insensitive toward families who just months ago lost children in the Newtown elementary school shooting. The comments being left on Twitter show the mixed reaction of fans:

Ryan Murphy, the show’s creator, famously asked Midler to make a guest appearance when the two shared a stage at the God’s Love We Deliver Golden Heart Awards ceremony in October; he later seemed to realize the enormity of what he’d done and tweeted about it.

Apparently the show’s writers are still figuring things out, because no definite plans have been made for Midler’s spot. She seems ready to go, however, and even has a suggestion as to who she should play.

“Maybe I could play Sue Sylvester’s evil sister,” she said.

Midler has made several appearances on shows over the past few years, including a performance on “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Dancing On Ice”, but it’s been a while since she took on an acting role. Fans are anxiously awaiting the confirmation.

When Glee star Lea Michelle was seen in public wearing looser-than-normal clothes and carrying a huge purse, rumors immediately began to fly that she was hiding a “baby bump” (perhaps one of the most detestable terms ever invented by our generation). Of course, Michelle just laughed off the idea and announced on Twitter that she had finally “made it” in the business now that everyone wants to know what’s happening with her uterus.

“I’m so obsessed with her,” Lea Michele said. “She’s one of the greatest comedic actresses right now and I just think she’s so great.”

Although past guests include Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears, the stars of the show are in agreement that having Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker–who will play (what else?) a Vogue journalist–will make for one of the most exciting seasons yet.

“I think I’m more excited for this season than ever before,” Michele said.

Hudson plays Rachel Berry’s ruthless dance instructor, Cassandra July, and according to Jane Lynch–who plays coach Sue Sylvester–the character is well-rounded

“I read the scripts and they’re hilarious. She gives Rachel a really hard time. She’s mean and petty and yet there’s a heart there too,” Lynch said.

The dancing part should come as easily as the acting for Hudson; she started taking lessons at the tender age of three years old.

The list of characters that graduated during Glee’s season three finale have been listed below:

As you can see, that is a big list of characters that will not be present in the upcoming seasons of Glee, and many of these characters were favorites by many. This will also give other characters of the show a chance to rise for favoritism as well.

One of the great and nostalgic scenes of the season finale (provided below) was when Kurt’s father on the show (Burt Hummel) reenacted the a viral scene from (I think) season one, where Kurt portrayed Beyonce performing “Single Ladies.” Long-time Glee watchers will remember the original scene.

The scene that received the most attention during the episode was Rachel Berry’s unexpected train ride to New York. This was a big event for her role, because she was one of the popular characters of the three seasons.

Even though Rachel’s character has left for New York, it looks like we will still be seeing more of her in seasons to come as mentioned in Lea Michelle’s tweet…

The Twitter community has been active in reacting to the show’s season finale, and I have provided some of their reactions below.

The cliffhanger in question is referring to the condition of Dianna Agron’s character Quinn, due the scene of her car accident as a result of texting while she was driving. The question of “Did Quinn make it?” is bringing a lot attention to her, apart from the recent rumors that Agron is in a love triangle with Tebow and Stan.

The Twitter community has been active reacting to the new Glee Spring 2012 promo (mostly to the song “Someone That I Used To Know” by Gotye that plays in the background), and I have provided some of the mixed reactions below.

The 25-year-old blonde bombshell has been dating Stan off and on for a year but apparently she knows how to get Tebow’s “Jets” in the air.

A source told the New York Post that,“Tim has made no secret that he likes Dianna, and told her so, but she has remained faithful to Sebastian.”

Agron and Tebow were spotted chatting at an Oscar party last month but he went on a date with Taylor Swift a few days later. According to sources, Swift and Tebow’s relationship is strictly platonic.

Stan and Agron supposedly split up again after not being able to make their long distance relationship work. Stan has been filming ” Political Animals” in Philadelphia while Agron is on the other side of the country in LA.

A representative for Agron insists that Agron and Stan are still together.

During last night’s (11/29/2011) episode of “I Kissed a Girl,” the pessimistic coach Sue Sylvester (played by Jane Lynch) mentioned “My iPhone 5 is vibrating. It’s a new feature of the iPhone 5. They vibrate!” With this in mind, I have heard from various iPhone users that existing iPhones already have a vibrate feature; however, with the latest iOS 5 update, what was probably intended to be communicated by Sue is that the latest iOS update and iPhone 5 will have “custom vibration options.” These customized vibrations can also be utilized on the iPhone 4(S) (if you have iOS 5) as shown in the YouTube video below.

Speaking of Glee and product placement, did anyone else see the new Google Plus commercial (shown below)?

Under the agreement Netflix is providing its members access to the first season of “Glee” and the first two seasons of “Sons of Anarchy” beginning today. In addition, “Ally McBeal” and “The Wonder Years” will stream instantly on Netflix.

“We’ve worked closely with Fox for the last year to provide our members access to some of the studio’s greatest TV franchises and library of both contemporary and classic movies,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer.  

“Our members love TV shows, and making such pop-culture hits like ‘Glee’ and ‘Sons of Anarchy’ available to watch instantly reinforces our commitment to provide them a wider selection of programs.”

Under an existing agreement with Fox, Netflix also streams “Lie to Me,” “24,” “Prison Break,” “Arrested Development,” “Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” and “X-Files.”

The program’s latest "Showstoppers" album topped the Billboard charts this week as digital sales of "Glee" songs surpassed 500,000. Songs from the show posted 4.1 million track sales in 2009 and 3.2 million so far in 2010.

"This is an interesting and vibrant time for the entertainment industry, music in particular, with the top four albums this week outselling last week’s number one," said Eric Weinberg, President,Nielsen Entertainment.

 
"We continue to see solid consumer demand for digital music sales, including full-length albums, with more than 40% of this week’s best selling album purchased digitally.
