We’ve moved from embarrassing to scary to ludicrous.  Like it or not, Yahoo’s VIPs keep on departing, and Stewart Butterfield and Caterina Fake, the married cofounders of Flickr, are the latest well-known employees to quit the company.

Follow These 10 On FriendFeed

I’ve been pretty active on FriendFeed for the past couple of weeks and it has definitely become one of my new top spots on the web. In many ways FriendFeed simply replaces a lot of other sites where I was spending time in the past. It has completely replaced Twitter for me for instance and has also taken my chunk of time that I used to spend focusing on my Flickr contact’s photos (I now see all of these photos on FriendFeed instead of Flickr directly itself).

Ha ha, your picture's on the Internet

The bellowing fellow now immortalized as Mr. Angry Overreaction Man demanded a photographer not put his raging visage online. You can guess what happened next.

Flickr Gives Developers A Friendly Nudge
· 1

There’s a bit of a conceptual gap between code and pretty pictures, so we wouldn’t have guessed that there would be a lot of overlap between the developer and photographer crowds.  Still, Flickr’s going to see how many people it can serve with a new developer website and blog.

With less than 24 hours behind Flickr’s announcement yesterday of adding video to their service, the early sentiment from existing Flickr users appears to be largely negative.

Flickr’s Major Upgrades

Flickr Gives Users 90 Seconds Of Video

Most Flickr Users Don’t Have Uploaded Photos

Webometric Thoughts: Average photos per Flickr Member: ZERO

Webometric Thoughts blogs that based on a random sample of 324 Flickr users that 216, or 67%, had zero photos.

If this is true that would leave you to believe that more people may be consuming photos on Flickr than publishing photos on Flickr.

From Webometric Thoughts:

Web Pages I Just Couldn’t Live Without

A year ago I blogged about the 25 sites that were on my Firefox bookmarks toolbar. These represented the 25 sites that I used the most in my day in day out online life.

I thought here now one year later I’d refresh this post showing which bookmarks were removed from my toolbar over the past year and which ones were added. I’ve also added comments on each link.

Links removed in the last year.

Social Network Sites Are Changing The Blogosphere

Visit my FriendFeed and you’ll see why I’m blogging less (it shows you what I’ve been generating on other services). When I started this blog in 2000 there wasn’t Twitter. Wasn’t Upcoming.org. Wasn’t Google Reader. Wasn’t Flickr. Wasn’t YouTube. Wasn’t Seesmic. Etc. Etc.

Social Media Advertising To Succeed
· 17

Despite the fact that social media advertising has yet to hit its stride and is taking some lumps for low click rates when compared to high pageviews, it will succeed. Social media is a different type of advertising platform from information-oriented websites and the two should not be compared.
