Last summer, Rounds (formerly 6rounds.com) launched an interactive video chat platform for Facebook.

Earlier this week, Facebook launched some new security features for user accounts. Now, they’ve followed that up with new security feature for applications.

Social video chat service vChatter has secured a new $350,000 round of funding, which the company will use to ramp up their development team for faster velocity on the rollout of new features, a spokesperson for the company tells WebProNews. This brings the company’s total funding up to $600,000 after raising an initial seed round of $250K in the summer of 2010.

A computer scientist named Charles Bihis, who works for Adobe, has created a desktop client for Facebook, fittingly named Facebook Desktop. The app is a side project for Bihis, and is not directly affiliated with either Adobe or Facebook, but Facebook users may find it useful nonetheless. 

Take a look at what Walmart’s doing on Facebook. The retail giant has put together a Groupon-like model for driving sales via its Facebook page, with a Facebook called CrowdSaver. Hat tip to The Next Web for pointing this out. 

Social app developer Fan Appz has just announced that it has integrated its platform with Facebook Places. The company says this gives businesses "a powerful and easy way to create highly relevant offers based on a customer’s offline activities."

That doesn’t sound bad. 

Facebook posted an update for the Facebook Platform Roadmap today. Interestingly, Facebook Places isn’t mentioned once, though it will certainly be a significant part of the picture.

Playdom has been in the news a lot over the week as Disney announced its agreement to acquire the social gaming company. Today, Playdom announced a partnership with Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment to launch the Official World Series of Poker game on Facebook and other social networks.
