Facebook has released a developer "roadmap," which it says will simplify communication for users and developers, improve app discovery and engagement, and provide developers with more comprehensive tools for building or expanding their business with Facebook.
Update: WebProNews received a call from David Swain, Communications for Facebook Platform, who wanted to give the company's side of this story. Basically, he says that they view the move as actually maintaining developers' business models (rather than threatening them), so that advertising can continue to be successful and users will actually trust it.
Security firm Trend Micro has been researching malicious practices on Facebook, and has discovered numerous rogue apps on the social networking site this week. Popular video streaming site Justin.tv has launched a new Facebook app that allows users to watch live video right from Facebook. The app is simply called "Live."

Millions of fans will be getting online to find brackets to fill out and chart their visions for the path to the NCAA championship. Many will likely turn to Facebook, and they're in luck because developers like CBSSports.com, Watercooler and Citizen Sports have created March Madness apps where users can create brackets, participate in discussions and pools, and find news, scores and videos from the tournament.
Facebook has launched the ability to let users chat within applications on Facebook. This keeps applications within the social network even more social.
If a developer uses the new fb:chat-invite FBML tag, they can display a list of users' online friends and let them invite their friends to chat. Developers can also give users the freedom to choose which friends they want to appear in their chat lists within the apps.
