The game didn’t release with these same-sex options, but BioWare has announced that the feature will be coming in a recent update. The topic has been blowing up on the official SWTOR forums, with the thread climbing to 62 pages.

In a new Star Wars game, the biggest threat to the empire may be homosexual activists! Hello, I’m Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. In a galaxy not so far far away, Star Wars gamers have already gone to the dark side. The new video game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, has added a special feature: gay relationships. Bioware, the company that developed the game, said it’s launching a same-sex romance component to satisfy some complaints. That surprised a lot of gamers, since Bioware had made it clear in 2009 that “gay” and “lesbian” don’t exist in the Star Wars universe. Since the announcement, homosexuals have been celebrating the news, but parents sure aren’t. On the game’s website, there are more than 300 pages of comments–a lot of them expressing anger that their kids will be exposed to this Star Warped way of thinking. You can join them by logging on and speaking up. It’s time to show companies who the Force is really with!

The hub bub has lead to the story picking up a bit on the national scene, with Conan O’Brien really digging deeper into the story. Providing exclusive coverage of these same sex relationships (by “exclusive”, I mean hilarious and having nothing to do with the game)…

Nunes was kind enough to take a bit of time from her busy schedule and answer some questions about her Conan experience, her new album, and explained the history of her ukele enthusiasts.

First, let me start off by saying congrats for getting a spot on Conan. What was that experience like, and how was it to meet the famous host who’s had the likes of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and Mr. T on his program?

Thank you! It was awesome and scary and excellent. Conan is super nice and we got to watch the rehearsal where he sets up all the bits and he’s just always as funny as he seems on air.

How did it get setup, did you call Conan’s people or did his people call yours?

There are a lot of calls involved, back and forth to make sure that all the ducks are in a row.

You’ve had the YouTube channel since 2006. Did your aspirations of being a musician lead to you creating the channel or did you just make it at first and then use it as a way to share your music with the world?

I started making videos my freshman year of college because I’d just been ripped away from all of my high school friends and we’d always played music together. I sent them whatever I was working on via YouTube hoping that it’d be a little more private than Facebook. I had no idea what I was getting myself in to.

How long did it take before you started to know you were becoming a hit on YouTube?

I had a pretty strong following of about 1,000 ukulele enthusiasts. They had all found me because back then you could search “ukulele” and only yield a few things. One day I decided to make one of my multi layered videos for the song “Into The Sunshine.” The next day I was on the front page of youtube and jumped form 1,000 subscribers to 10,000. It’s kind of been a steady rise form there.

You’ve been releasing albums since 2007, can you compare the experience of that to simply sitting down in front a camera and performing? Are there particular aspects of album making that you enjoy?

I like being able to have drums in the studio. I can’t play drums, nor do I have room for them in my apartment. So while making the album I really got to hear what they sound like with full instrumentation which is awesome. For my videos, I’m usually making due with pots and pans.

With ‘Settle Down’ which releases this month; what was working on this album like compared to your previous works?

Every project is different, especially because you’re usually working with a new group of people, in a brand new environment. This time around we were in a very small studio in the middle of summer so I guess the biggest difference this time was that I was very very sweaty.

What are your aspirations moving forward for both your music and YouTube channel?

I’d like to continue making video’s in the style that I always made them as well as expand my repertoire to make more cinematic videos, more like the video for “Stay Awake” (see above)

I read the story about the name of your channel “jaaaaaaa”, how you did this randomly just holding down j and a, the first and last letters of your name. Any plans for a self titled channel album?

(laughter) Not in the near future, no. Which is funny because in german “ja” means “yes”

If Julia has taught us anything, it’s that playing the ukelele can only lead to good things. Just be sure you can play it well enough.

It’s really hard not to like Rob Riggle. He basically makes cameos in movies, and they instantly become funnier. As proven by this ad which is trying to get people to pay $50/year to get content earlier than others for a year…oh well, we still love Riggle!

Upon first viewing you might not have noticed anything strange about this post-game celebration. However, listen to John Elway at the 0:33 mark. I’ve listened at least ten times, and I think he’s saying exactly what it sounds like. HA.

Along with being a pretty down to earth sounding dude, Seth Green looks to have some clairvoyant powers. Who else would have called this back in 1999?

Come on Link, go get the other pieces and MAYBE you’ll have something of worth. Also, does anyone else find cheap “bald” make-up effects as amusing as I do?

Some pretty nice seats, the best part of the video is one of the guys’ names is Chris Smokes. So you never will get seats this good or have an awesome name like that.

David Cross is a pretty funny guy and has been attached to some well made projects throughout the years. Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked will most assuredly not be one of them. He seems to have loathed the experience so much his interview with Conan gets kind of uncomfortable.

The No Pants Subway ride is a pretty nifty idea and they received a really good turn out for it, shown in this official video. However, I think most of us agree Santa should probably always wear pants (skip to 0:46 for the view).

If you know the history and work of James Dean you’ll enjoy the video, if you don’t know about him then you’ll enjoy the video and want to go learn more.

This video is great for two reasons. First, it’s always funny to see an awkwardly made soccer goal. Second, hearing soccer announcers yell GOALOLOLOL is one of the more cathartic experiences you’re bound to have.

Seeing sports coaches go crazy is always great entertainment. Especially in college basketball, there’s just something so personal about it. This Iowa coach did it exactly like the angry college basketball coach forefather Bobby Knight did it…slamming a chair.

Today’s videos feature an awesome Yoda vs. Darth Maul Brisk commercial, spectacular under ice fishing images, cosplay highlights from 2011, and an upcoming show about 70′s porn.

This is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. I have no idea how they’re doing it, or if it’s fake. Really, it doesn’t matter. Just sit back, relax and prepare to be utterly amazed.

If you’ve played Half Life 2, you’ll love this video. It’s great for two reasons: First, it’s an awesomely constructed Gravity Gun. Second, this went for $21,000 at a charity auction.

I might be alone on this, but sometimes the copy-cat is even more beautiful than the original. Being younger obviously helps too.

I had forgotten all about the Brisk commercials from awhile back. Considering I get a positive vibe from this one, it appears they’ve improved on the idea.

This animated short film “Devils, Angels & Dating” is worth the view. Some great animation, comedy, and voice acting.

The subway is like a crap shoot. Sometimes you roll the dice and get mugged, other times something quirky and fun like this happens. If we’re to believe this was completely spontaneous and not premeditated. Even if premeditated it’s still cool.

Cosplay is a practice in which human beings dress up as their favorite characters from movies, comic books, video games, and other forms of media. Generally, most cosplay is forgettable. This video highlights the better constructed cosplay, and features good production value.

On his show last night, he took on the Amazon Kindle Fire, and the complaints it has been receiving, complete with a fake Jeff Bezos, who starts it off as:

“Hi, I’m Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. As far as you know. I’m here to reassure you that we here at Amazon have listened to all your complaints about our new Kindle Fire. Now, we’ve got it all well in hand. For example, some of you thought it was too easy to accidentally turn off. Well, not anymore.”

Amazon, in real life, has launched an update for the Kindle Fire to address some of people’s concerns.

One thing he is not, however, is a huge fan of Twitter.

He discussed the social media service recently during an interview with Conan O’Brien. He reveals that he pretty much hates it, and basically only uses it to get people to buy stuff. He also discusses the social media generation, and how everyone nowadays has to live every moment through the lens of Twitter. Check out what he means as he extrapolates that concept to the second coming –

He’s not lying about his Twitter presence. If you check it out (@louisck), you’ll find that he truly does not follow a single person, but has almost 715,000 followers himself. He’s not too prolific on the service, sometimes going a week or so between tweets. And he does use it mostly to promote shows and products.

Well, except for a couple of notable exceptions like the epic rant against Sarah Palin that he tweeted whilst drunk on an airplane – or when he used to service to defend the rights of comedians to say whatever they want, without fear of “offending” everyone.

Despite his lack of affinity for Twitter, Louis C.K. is embracing the internet in one notable way. He just announced that his next comedy special will not be released through cable, or Netflix – but straight to the people, streaming from his website.

“Why should I go through a cable network when I can just give it directly to the people who want to see it? It’s so much easier, and it’s an interesting experiment,” he told the New York Times.

And it’s not all technology that Louis C.K is against, as you can see from his amazing breakdown of people’s lack of appreciation for the miracle of flight:

For instance, we now definitively know that Siri gets pretty perturbed when you use coarse language with her and it quite unimpressed by your references to 2001: A Space Odyssey.

But Siri is the biggest draw for those looking to make the upgrade to the iPhone 4S. It’s the aspect of the new device that has generated the most buzz on the interwebs. And because Apple knows that, they used Siri as the focal point for their first TV ad for the 4S.

If you watched any TV this weekend, I’m sure you know the one I’m talking about – various iPhone users tap Siri to help with a multitude of problems like finding hospitals, searching for locksmiths and getting help with a flat tire.

Conan O’Brien has decided to put his spin on the new Siri-based Apple ad, and aired this clip on his late-night show. The premise? We all know how people are really using Siri.

Conan has a history of parodying certain elements of the Apple culture. Back in March, he showed us how Apple was getting cocky with the iPad 2, saying “You’ll buy it no matter what we say.”

And in June, he took aim at Apple’s Final Cut Pro X due to all of the negative reaction that it was getting on the web. In September, he took on that misplaced prototype that everyone thought might be the iPhone 5.
