Mass Events Labs is not, as its name may lead you to believe, some sort of nuclear research facility.  Instead, the company specializes in play-it-by-ear-style conferences.  Pulling off a successful scheduled conference is difficult enough, so Mass Events Labs deserves some respect for taking this approach.

There’s no telling how much respect (read: money) Mass Events Labs got from CMP, however, as terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed.  A formal statement only announces the takeover itself and David Berlind’s move from Mass Events Labs to CMP (Berlind is best known for his work at CNET).

Eric Faurot, CMP’s senior vice president, added, "The synergies between Mass Events Labs and CMP’s portfolio of events are undeniable and allow us to build on our existing relationships with industry leaders like Google, Yahoo, IBM and Sun.  Furthermore, the acquisition supports our goal of fostering growth and innovation in the technology industry by connecting buyers and sellers in meaningful ways."

There you have it, then.  With a hat tip to Joseph Weisenthal, there are media and marketing solutions, unusual conferences, and as far as we know, nothing that will start WWIII.
