March Madness On Demand Player Sets Record

CBS and the NCAA said Friday their March Madness on Demand (MMOD) live-streaming video player attracted record traffic for the first day of the men’s basketball tournament.

In total, there were 3.4 million hours of live streaming video and audio consumed, over 20 percent growth compared to 2009, with 3 million more unique visitors to the MMOD video player. Both figures represent the largest single day of traffic for a live sporting event on the Internet.

CBSSports.com To Offer Blitz Of NFL Coverage

CBSSports.com said today it has created a network of 32 reporters to cover every NFL team and provide brief updates on its homepage.

The new initiative called RapidReports will have a reporter dedicated to every team to provide a stream of short, original news updates. CBS says it is the only media outlet to offer this type of coverage of the NFL.

CBS Sports has filed a lawsuit against the NFL Players Association in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis over the use of NFL players statistics for fantasy football league.

The lawsuit says that CBS Interactive, a division of CBSSports.com, is seeking a declaratory judgment that it has the rights to fantasy football statistics that are publicly available.
