Cammie Dunaway, Yahoo’s Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Customer Experience Division, is leaving the company. And the fallout isn’t pretty.

Reverse the genders if you like, but either way, everyone’s seen it happen: a guy leaves one woman for another, and the ex proceeds to cry incessantly and gain 20 pounds. Also, if you did reverse the genders, the ex grows a two-foot beard. And in this case, it looks like Yahoo might have stopped shaving.

Valleywag’s Megan McCarthy posted an email sent out by Sue Decker, and wrote, “The takeaway: Dunaway had no deputy or clear line of succession. We count 10 different people named as the head of the different sections and divisions that Dunaway ran.” 10 people to replace one? You can only conclude that Dunaway filled a pretty vital role. Also: no wonder she got another job.

Dunaway’s doing just fine, by the way. In a farewell email also reprinted by Valleywag, she stated, “While I can’t share the specifics until mid next week, suffice it to say that [the new position] is a natural fit for someone who loves driving profitable revenue for big, well loved consumer brands and can’t pass up the opportunity to be the coolest Mom in the universe.”

Dunaway already spent 13 years working for Frito-Lay, and presumably had the opportunity to bury her son in snack foods. A profile from that era suggests the kid likes tools, so perhaps she’s gone to work for Black & Decker, or, if the 8-year-old shares any interests with me, Ferrari.
