We hear it all the time: “Banners don’t work anymore!” But did ‘banners’ ever really work in the first place?

The latest published figures seem to suggest that the average click-thru-rate (CTR) for a banner ad on the Internet is between 0.15% and 0.3%. That is 1.5 to 3 per thousand.

WHAT ARE BANNERS?

Are graphics or images used for advertising on the Internet, that you must be quite familiar with if you have been on the Internet for a while. At they capture your attention with their blinking animations and bright colors. But after a while, you start identifying them with ads, and stop paying them atention.

If you’re like me, you have probably had a chance to try a free ISP in an effort to save that monthly fee that we pay to our regular ISP month after month. But, what about that banner that is visible at the bottom of the screen? How do I make the banner seem insignificant in relation to the page I am viewing?
