Sylvester Stallone is a frontrunner in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role in Creed at tonight's Oscars. Do you expect the Rocky star will finally score a big win?

After winning a Golden Globe for his role as the "Italian Stallion" in Creed, he joked that Rocky Balboa is his imaginary friend.

"I want to thank my imaginary friend Rocky Balboa for being the best friend I ever had," Sylvester Stallone said.

If Stallone wins at the Oscars, it will be quite a comeback story. He's got some pretty stiff competition, however. In order to go home with the gold, he'll have to beat out some Hollywood A-listers, including Mark Ruffalo, Christian Bale, and Tom Hardy.

Can he do it?

In addition to the Rocky films, Sylvester Stallone is best known for his Rambo franchise. He also tried his hand at comedy in Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.

ABC News calls Sylvester Stallone's role in Creed, "maybe the actor's finest, most complicated work yet."

But is it enough?

Will you be tuning in to the Oscars--the 88th Academy Awards--on Sunday evening? The show airs on the ABC network, with Live from the Red Carpet airing at 7:00 p.m. ET, and the awards show beginning at 8:30. Chris Rock is hosting.

Will 2016 be the year Sylvester Stallone takes home an Oscar?

Fans will have to tune in to see.
