Dressed in a white bridal gown like attire, Susan Sarandon took her friend, Timothy Leary’s ashes to Burning Man

Timothy Leary died and was cremated on 1996, and most of his ashes were scattered in outer space in 1997, but Sarandon was able to keep some. Sarandon visited the festival last 2014, and she chose it to be the perfect resting place for the LSD guru.

She brought her friend’s ashes to Black Rock City, Nevada, for this year’s festival.

“I think he’d be so happy,” Sarandon told USA Today. “I think he would have loved the chaos. He would have loved it. And all these people honoring him with LSD.”

Sarandon camped with some artists and helped build a makeshift church they called Totem Of Confessions with another friend Michael Garlington.

Burner artist Oregon Hunter, said that Sarandon, followed by a man playing a nose whistle and other participants, carried large photos of Leary into the makeshift church.

Two other men held a black chest with Leary’s ashes, which was left inside the Totem that was later, set ablaze.

The totem burned to the ground as viewers who were dressed in elaborate costumes watched.

“Getting ready for the big night. The procession to the Totem of Confessions with Timothy Learys ashes,” the second account, @susanlovesjack, said.

Before the festival, Sarandon had an interview with Daily Beast, where she enthusiastically discussed Leary. Sarandon also described her fondness of marijuana, magic mushrooms, and other psychedelic drugs including Ayahuasca.

“Timothy Leary was a friend of mine, so that acid was nice and pure, but I’m not really looking for chemicals, and I don’t like to feel speedy,” Sarandon said, “But I’ve done Ayahuasca and I’ve done mushrooms and things like that.”
